Sunday Stash #281 – Patchwork Plus Part Two
Do you ever walk into a quilt shop and immediately think, “Where have you been all of my life?” I’m kind of a fabric whore, so it happens to me quite regularly. No fabric slut shaming around here though; get your goodies! But truly, when I walked into Patchwork Plus in Blackheath, NSW, I was like, this is my jam, my jelly and my peanut butter. Since it’s about a two hour drive away, I can’t quite count it as my LQS. However, I am gonna call it my LQS-adjacent, because it’s just too good!
As part of Sunday Stash #280, I showed off an amazing collection of wovens by Indie Fabric Studio that I purchased at Patchwork Plus. This week, I want to show you a bit more! On this specific trip I was actually on a mission to find pastel fat quarters and fat eighths to use on my Molli Sparkles Shirt & Tie block. (← more on that very soon!) I didn’t think I would have much luck, but low and behold, there was seriously a whole basket of pre-cut fat quarters in pastel and low volume hues literally waiting for me to find them. Girl. When fabric serendipity happens, you best be paying attention!
I literally didn’t have any pastel fabrics in my stash because, yeah, I rarely use them. This was clearly a total fabric fail on my part, which has now been corrected! I bought these seven fat quarters spanning the full rainbow. But while you’re here, excuse me, look at the rest of the shop crammed with fabric deliciousness!
This is only about a third of what you can find at Patchwork Plus. Shop owner, Lorraine was divine, and made me feel right at home. None of that, why is a man here? As I explored, I’d round a corner and there’s Liberty of London, round another corner and there’s batiks, look under a table and it’s colonial, right in front of my face and there’s Alison Glass. Like, bejesus–all the fabric, all the damn time. (Patchwork) Plus, there’s a classroom in the back for all of us quilters to get together and patchwork it out! I’ll bring the cocktails!
he shop looks fun, from the gingerbread look outside to the packed inside. Have been following your shirts. Looking forward to seeing them all together.
“The” shop 🙂
so I love these woven pastels. But I can’t find the name of these fabrics “Indie Fabric Studio” here in the USA. Is this an Australian manufacturer? Is there a way to get some of these fab fabrics ?
Thanks.
