Sunday Stash #274 – I Don’t Like Mondays
It’s me again! What a week, y’all. Did you have a week? Did it feel like every day was a Monday? Thankfully, my quilty friend Caroline (IG: geometriquilt) sent me a little fabric surprise! She didn’t know I was having a week of Mondays, but her sweet little gift made it feel like a Thursday! Funny story: a few weeks ago I sent some “just because” fabric to another quilty friend, and now here I am receiving the same. I’m telling you, karma is a thing. You put good energy out into the world, and it is going to come back to fill up your bottomless margarita glass. Is that why I’m always drunk?
Drunk on fabric, maybe! Mmm-kay. How about we talk about these fabrics while I’ve got you for a hot minute. Caroline remembered that I had a Vespa, and so sent all of these Italiano-inspired pieces to add to my fabric stash. Yep, just stash it baby. Because that’s who us quilters are: purveyors of fine quilt fabrics who build textile art collections, dahlings. Do you feel me? Never feel the guilts for stashing whatever you want. It’s your money, so spend it however you damn well please. Work it out, honey!
But this Vespa fabric. I can think of all kinds of fun uses, and the fussy cutting potential is high in this one. These are all from Dear Stella who always demonstrates a highly illustrative flair. I’ve been thinking of making my own grocery shopping bags, and these would all make great linings! (Especially that tomato sauce, mustard and canned corn fabric!)
I so owe the blog world a few updates on the quilt projects I’ve been working on! Ms. Sparkles over here has been working that stack down. Right, down-down. (And getting Grandma Sparkles to stitch that binding down!) But I got a bunch of pics taken, so hold on to your pantaloons, because they’re coming soon! Mwah!
Do you are outsourcing your binding sewing. It is strange but that is my favourite part. I just completed the backs on 3 quilts during Covid “stay in the house honey” period which as a quilter was not as horrible as one might think. They came back from the long armer and I curl up in bed and sew the binding on before I go to sleep. It’s meditative. And the weight of the quilt is offset by having it rest on the bed. Cheers Molli. Looking forward to seeing the full project not just the tease gurl.
Can hardly wait for the unveiling! Odd thing about binding – I think there is 4 sides to a quilt but when I’m putting on the binding I swear there are 9 sides and 12 corners. Just sort of GROWS.
Which is cuter the fabric or the Vespa?!?!? Enjoy the Ride
Molly, I can’t figure out WHAT day it is during this pandemic! “Monday, Tuesday, Thursday….”🙃 I do hope you are all staying safe and well. I love the blue/yellow combo.
