Sunday Stash #273 – Rainbow Realness

Ooh la la! Another blog post within two weeks; I’m on fire! How could I not be a bit hot under the collar with this array of rainbow fabrics fanning my flames. Whew! Hot flashes! These are all recent acquisitions to my stash — I know, wham bam, helluva lot of em thank you ma’am! I got a little Alison Glass, and then I needed a little more, and then a lot more, and well here we are ordering 76 fat quarters at once. What’s a boy/girl/quilting drag queen to do? (Hint: order more.)

Remember those early days of your quilting adventure when you had to buy all of the fabrics? Then maybe–also, maybe not–you slowed down in your purchases to let things simmer a bit. This can also be called euphemistically “shopping your stash.” Then every once in a while, such as when pandemics happen, you get out the credit card (or your grandma’s credit card as the case may be) and just explode in a fabric frenzy? Clair’s Fabrics: come through! Been there? More than once? Then you feel me.

All of this rainbow goodness is now making its way into my latest quilt. I’m currently obsessed with the Delectable Mountains quilt block, and an Alison Glass rainbow wash version is a tall order that I must oblige. Above is a little sample, bite-sized, tasting platter of delectable hors d’oeuvre realness. The finished quilt will be at least queen-size, and it’s trying to tell me it want’s to be an over-the-pillow king-size situation. We’ll see about that, but along the way, I can keep fondling these fierce fabrics!
