My current working life keeps me pretty time poor. In order to use my limited free time successfully, there’s more quilting and less writing. I have four quilts ready for the longarm treatment!
I still write for quarterly Australian magazine, Textile Fibre Forum. Grab a subscription if you need some of my flavour in your own home.
I’ve started on somewhat of a health kick by joining a gym and starting Lite n’ Easy meal delivery services. I’m doing 9Round kickboxing classes three times a week and loving it! I’ve already lost a few kilos!
I’m headed to Japan mid-October for a work trip, but you can bet I’ll be stuffing as many fabric purchases in my luggage as possible. Does Nippori Textile Town take reservations? It’s been too long, I miss you.
Mr. Sparkles has started a kombucha factory in our apartment. It’s the best kombucha I’ve ever had, so if you’re in the neighbourhood stop by!
I showed two quilts at the Modern Quilt Show Australia recently. It’s always nice to see your quilts hanging vertically. It’s even nicer to listen secretly to what people say about them!
I just ordered a replacement Olfa 24”x36” cutting mat, after seven years with my original one. Lourdes, it was time.
This has been a rough, full year–most of which I haven’t told you about–but, I’m ready to move past it all. My creative juices are starting to flow more naturally now; a return to self.
Finally, and probably the biggest news, Mr. Sparkles and I are finally getting married. We’ve been engaged since August 2015, but due to previous laws, plebiscites, and our own health issues, we have delayed the planning until now. So next 27 March, 2020–our 15 year anniversary–we will be making it official! A few more details to come about the event of the season, don’t you worry!
On a scale of one to ten you are a 100! So good to hear from you, have glimpsed your cute self on Instagram and glad to hear all the great things! Will be sending rice and good wishes to your wedding! So excited!!!!!!

i loved LiteNEasy when i had for a whole month LOL lost 5 kg in that time. Felt like a bloody winner loosing that much. There is one thing i have to say. If you never know a hard time, how is it that you recognise a good time? we need the peaks and troughs to keep life interesting and the CREATIVE JUICES flowing. Whenever i see a piece of art – it’s all art really – i think about how the creators journey may have lead them to this piece. I make and stash stuff away and sometimes it calls me to add to it and sometimes it calls to me to give it away. I love reading about your journey and your working holidays because it feeds my creative journey as i suspect it does others. Congrats on setting a date for the big day and know that i will be following along like the rest of us
