Sunday Stash #271 – Off My Chest
Hey all my Sunday Stashers! Isn’t this so much more fun than going to church? I do declare! I’ve got plenty of fabric to show off this week–what’s new–and I’m sure you’ll recognise much of it. I’ve got goods from Tula, Alison, Carolyn, and Libs all smiles for the camera! Look how it all goes together, though. I’m pretty sure my inspiration hot pants are getting warmer. Anyone else getting a hot flash? That just me? Ooh Lourdes! Speaking of heat, I’ve got some to share below.
I want to touch on a few things besides fabric on this fine Sunday. Consider this my day to repent vent! You see, every day I’m shuffling, seeing craziness all around me. First of all, Rupaul’s Drag Race. What is going on?! How does Brook Lynne Heights find herself in the bottom two, and yet Silky Nutmeg “Meh” Ganache continues to garner praise from the judges. World, hold on because I am not here for it! If she wins this whole thing, I am throwing my weave on the ground! Of course hers will already be there because that’s about as good as she gets!
Next hot topic! The Australian Federal Election. It may come as a shock to some of you, but I’m a pretty progressive individual. Gasp! Clutch those pearls, honey! Now if you’re still here, I am always down for the more liberal (and I mean that in the dictionary version of the word) party to win. Well, things didn’t quite go that way yesterday and the conservative Liberal National Party was re-elected. (Their naming is still confusing for me too). What is with this conservatism that refuses to let up around the world? Someone please make it stop, I’m tired of this ride!
Don’t even get me started on the Alabama abortion bill. Okay, fine, I’m started. This is just all shades of fuckery. I’m saying it clearly and loudly, I am pro-choice. The way those white, male Alabama senators voted to reject exception clauses for victims of rape and incest is appalling. Insanity. They do know that The Handmaid’s Tale is supposed to be a dystopian morality tale, and not reality, right? Right? Riiiight? I don’t even know if I can go visit my Grandma Sparkles (who lives in Alabama) because of this news. It’s got me twisted, and I’m not even directly affected by it.
Then there’s Eurovision. Le sigh. Sorry to go so light topic (from that heavy one above), but I was up at 4:30am this morning to tune in to the live broadcast. Without being too spoiler heavy, Australia was robbed! I mean, I think it is virtually impossible for us to win, but Kate Miller-Heidke gave an impassioned performance that should have ranked higher than a 9th place finish. The Netherlands, I love you–what I remember of you–but there is no place for your singer/songwriter schtick at Eurovision! No place!
Those are some of things I needed to get off my chest today! The world is so upside down right now, I’m completely baffled. I don’t even think fabric is making it better.
The world is not only up side down, it is also cattywampus. But you have lovely fabrics to calm our souls and hearts 🙂 Hugs
Yes the world has gone mad! And you are the one that is keeping us sane and focused on what is important. FABRIC!!!!!! The groupings are spot on! If I send you my credit card will you shop for me? My green’s never come out quite right. love THE PURPLE/YELLOW/waves. YUMMY
Thanks!
The whole world HAS gone mad! It’s kinda scary! I think I’ll stay in my safe room and sew! 🙂 Your Sunday stash is fantastic!

Thank you for your perfect summary of what has been an all round shocker of a week. Tried to distract myself with a Japanese pattern book but the pretty dresses just couldn’t calm my disquiet. Hopefully some fabric play will help soon.
I hear ya, Molli, I’m in a Deep Purple Funk too. I’ve been calling my sewing room “My Bubble of Tranquility” and stay in it as long as possible. Love all your fabrics, esp the purple and orange. I get happy whenever I see an e-mail from you, esp if fabric pictures are involved. Love you muchly, and thank you for all you do for us.
Love your web posts. You are spot on!
Gurrrrrrl. You’ve brought up so many hot topics– abortion, conservative politics, hot fabric. But I want to kiki about the hottest topic of them all– this week’s Drag Race episode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Silky Nutmeg Ganache can melt off my tv set any time now. She’s not good, her drag is messy, she’s obnoxious and conceited. Completely barftastic. I’m Team Brooke Lynn Hytes all the way. And she and Vanjie were ROBBED last week. Silky should have been in the bottom 2 and Vanjie would have slayed her in the lip sync. *hair flip + eye roll in disgust*.
Now for a bit of good news: Brooke Lynn came to Madison last week and I went to see her!!!! She was AMAZEBALLS!! Her second number was all on point while wearing a skin-tight leather cat suit. Errrr-kay?!? Someone asked her about Silky (before this week’s drama) and Brooke said she liked her and the the show would be boring without her. Sounds like Stockholm Syndrome to me!
I need a glass of champagne to get me through all this!
xoxox
It’s awful that fabric can’t even make you feel better :o(
Somebody had to say it all. Oh how I can relate. Sigh.
Hear hear Molli, I’ve been involved in politics for over 30 years, and I don’t remember ever feeling this devastated by an election. I’m unsure if the gravity of this has sunk into Australians yet.
I can’t believe that our country is being run by a conservative Pentecostal Christian. The world just got so much darker.
As for Alabama, you take your gorgeous self there to visit your Grandma and you shout loud and proud for women’s rights to their own body.
This is not a time for people like us who believe in what’s right and fair in the world to go quietly. We have to stand up and let our voices be heard.
Love you Molli, stay gorgeous
I also was disappointed that Nutmeg Silky is still there, after all those times of bad padding, and her sharpie marker makeup! I’m rooting for my Canadian Brook Lynn Heights. Ms. Vangie was fun, and I hated that she and Brook has to lip sync – I was hoping that they both got into the finals, ala season 10! No such luck.
And you didn’t even mention Madonnas performance and her shuffling priests 🤔, we are heading to the end times, the omens are not good 😂😂😂😂😜
So many pretties! And I totally agree with most of what you said … except RuPaul’s Drag Race. But only cos I haven’t watched it 😁
Thank you for this post. I find it depressing that more people aren’t shouting. Every day something really horrific is happening here, and I kept thinking maybe we’ll move to Australia just to see that it has the same awful leadership. I find it scary that so many people can elect these aholes.
Just found your blog, patterns and IG (thanks to Make Modern) and I have a whole long weekend to keep reading, learning and laughing. Thank you for your putting your voice out there!
