Sunday Stash #257 – Haiku I Forgot
Sometimes fabrics slip through the cracks. They just do, okay. I swear I love them all equally–sideways glance–but I can’t help it if I occasionally want to run my fingers along some other silk charmeuse. I must have been distracted putting away all of that Liberty of London, because these Japanese pieces by Yumi Yoshimoto have just been hanging out quietly in the corner. Yet, with their bold colour and design, there’s nothing quiet about them. I’ve taken two photos of each fabric as it is wrapped around my comic book boards so you can see the full extent of their fabulousness. The more I’ve been staring at these unusual pieces, the more I’ve realised how poetic they are in their structure. If I were to describe these fabrics in a word: haiku. To honour that, I’ve dropped a few haiku attempts below. If you feel brave enough, leave your own 5-7-5 syllabic post in the comments!
colour in each one
the stroke of a hand drawn line
more than just fabric
i almost lost you
but then i found you again
it was worth looking
a fabric choice
so especially simple
decisions to make
just cut loose the threads
make until your truth is seen
do it already
It’s not just color
The fabric glows on it’s own.
Vivid perfection.
These are beautiful. Looks like you could stretch them over canvas and hang them up as art.
This is your best post
Colours of fabric unite
A passion to make
Beautiful structure
Abstract color completeness
Re-imagine us
I can’t write haiku
but I love all the others
so clever they are
(and I agree with Kristel)
Nicely done both word and color
Deliberating
Where do I make the first cut
I cannot do it
I love your beautiful fabric. How about a scan of all that glorious gorgeousness like they do with quilt shop photos. You have the best taste… And I covet your stash (though mine is nothing to sneeze at!
