Quilt Finish – Diamonds for Adam
It’s been a hot minute since I came along and showed off some finishes, has it not?! Well honey-cutie-baby-pies, I’ve got a few of them lined up! Y’all think I’ve just been sitting around here doing nothing? Oh no, no, no. There’s been a whole heap of thread and fabric shenanigans happening, and there’s even more coming up. I love a good reveal, don’t you? My extra wig is about to pop off! Okay, so while this first one is technically not a bed quilt, it got the same spa treatment. Trust that I needed a smaller-make to satisfy that big, creative finish energy.
This cushion started because I had erroneously cut a bunch of diamonds from fabrics that I ended up not using in a larger quilt. (You can check that out on my Instagram.) I didn’t want them to languish in the scrap box, so I sewed them all up together. This colour story felt both granny-vintage, and luxe-moderne at the same time! But check it, y’all: I quilted this panel of diamonds myself! I went to town on it with my walking foot, and some exciting new batting and thread options I can’t wait to share with you. (#comingsoon) I echoed the diamonds with an overlapping diamond motif–because too many diamonds are never enough.
For the backing I visited my favourite home-dec fabric shop, Bev’s Remnant Warehouse in Surry Hills to find the perfect corduroy. My body aches for this fabric deliciousness. I didn’t even have time to Sunday Stash it because it went straight into production! I simply installed this zipper along the side, creating a big pouch for the cushion insert. This way your face isn’t laying on it, it takes no time at all, and you can make it a design feature with a coordinating colour. I know everyone loves to install all sorts of crazy-complicated zipper treatments, but I K.I.S.S. whenever I can. Girl you know it’s true!
Mr. Sparkles quickly claimed this cushion as his new favourite thing, so this easily became Diamonds for Adam! Things are absolutely right with my world!
Itβs fabulous – that cord is a great colour (and love the coordinating zip) and absolutely love the quilting on the diamonds – perfect ππ
Love it
