Sunday Stash #284 – SewMondo
When there’s a sale on Alison Glass fabric, is it even worth trying to look away?! I’m usually that person advocating for not buying fabric just because it’s on sale … but please, take my advice because I’m clearly not using it! Alison delivers some of the most beautiful blenders in her Sun Print collections, and these are no exception. Western Australian quilt shop, SewMondo, knew how to reel me in, and boy did we both score a whopper … this … big!
I managed to pick up nearly every portion of the rainbow to add to my collection. I didn’t grab any of the blues and teals because clearly I already had all of them! When you’re looking to stash fabric, don’t worry about buying it when it first hits the shelves. Wait a while, it will still be there for you. Unless you’re that type that’s making quilts faster than you can click “Purchase” from your favourite online retailer. And if that’s you, I got some bindings you can finish up for me while I keep shopping!
I love me some lime, chartreuse, citron, yellow-greens, whatever you want to call them. You don’t see them a lot in quilts, or home decor really. They give me just enough sourness to be fresh, but are unique enough to keep most people away. If you’re stumped with how to use them, try pairing them with pinks and rosey hues, as their complimentary nature will make each jump right off the page!
I have been collecting black, grey, black and white fabrics since the very beginning of my stash expeditions. I’ve yet to make a monochromatic quilt with them, but that doesn’t stop me from buying them! You don’t always need colour to make a statement, and remember that black is tres chic! I’m literally getting all inspired just sitting here writing about these fabrics — stop it brain, no more WIPs!
Someone asked me on the weekend if there are deficiencies in my stash — and it’s always orange and purple. Interestingly they’re complimentary colours, and I somehow seem to leave them both out. Hey, I love all colour, but orange probably runs near the bottom of the pack in my stash. I find it really hard to get non-garish oranges with motifs that I want to use. (You won’t find any pumpkins around here). Alison Glass to the rescue once again; mix in some pink I am living for it!
Finally, some completely pale neutrals. Don’t you love how a neutral for me still features hot pink and neon yellow? That’s how we roll around here! Also, I threw in the last of this white Giucy Giuce Entwine in Confetti for a special project that I’m making. Thanks SewMondo for the sale, and for getting these beauties to me effortlessly!
Yummy inspiration! As always!๐งก Iโm ready to go buy, buy, buy!๐
I always begin my fabric shopping journey in the sale room of my favorite quilt shops: Early Girl in Audubon, NJ, and Pennington Quilt Works in Pennington, NJ.
Short circuited the computer drooling over these! Love, love love the teeny geo prints and the linen with teeny specks! Thanks!
I could seriously send myself broke on Alison Glass fabrics!! ๐ฑ๐ฑ
