Sunday Stash #278 – Art Theory
Well, well, well! Ms. Alison Glass wants you to sit down and pay attention! Listen up kids, because this is Art Theory! Here are three pieces from her latest fabric range for Andover Fabrics. Clockwise from the top left: Rainbow Stitched in Night, Rainbow Feather in Night, and Overall in Night. I have been not-so-patiently waiting for these for about three months, ever since seeing Alison tease them on her socials. I don’t think I’ve ever drummed my fingers on my desk as much as I have waiting for these fabrics. Due to some next level pandemic 2020 craziness, Australia some how started getting these fabrics first!
I’m glad we did because all ten metres that I purchased from Clair’s Fabrics have already been designated. You see, as I finished up my Rainbow Mountains quilt top, finding the perfect quilt backing became imperative. Since the quilt top featured so heavily in my, ahem, wedding, I needed to ensure that the backing was just as incredible. Now some may say that the quilt top has so much going on colour-wise that I should take a more neutral approach to the back. To that I say, too much is never enough!
So the Rainbow Feathers in Night and Overall in Night will be combined for vertical width of fabric runs, and the Rainbow Stitched in Night will be the binding. The back is going to be just as over the top fabulous as the front, if I do say so my colourful self! Quite literally, colour me happy because there’s a sofa in here for two!
Yes. It’s even more beautiful for its significance. Can’t wait to see the pantograph you use. Hold on Nellie it’s going to be great!
Absolutely breathtaking!
Molli, I love Alison Glass fabrics. The saturated colours are stunning and I love the fact that various lines work together. Your wedding quilt deserves a fabulous backing. I am putting much more energy into my backings than previously and truly find it makes a difference. They feel – well finished. Not just assembled. Thanks for sharing the information about the new line. I will be hunting for them in Canada.
So glad you got them 1st so you could back that beautiful wedding quilt. And what a wedding it was 🙂
