Make All Your Nights Neon
It’s been a surprisingly busy quilt week! I’m feeling more accomplished with my progress than I probably should, but fuck that guilt-shit because I’ve got a finished quilt top! I only say that as this Neon Nights Quilt (and a few others I’ve been making) are on the easier side of the quilt-making spectrum. At this stage though, anything that gets me sewing is alright with me! Besides, I’d rather have a finished quilt top than adding another WIP to the pile. I know all of y’all can understand that sentiment!
I got asked if I was going to make a pattern for this quilt. Well, the good news is that one sorta-kinda already exists! It uses my Mood Ring Block Tutorial to create the individual blocks. However, so as not to make the same quilt again, I put the blocks on point, and added a whole bunch of negative space around the main colour-bomb.
You wanna know a secret? I originally did this because I just wanted to make the quilt bigger! I didn’t have enough of some of my feature prints to go larger, but I did have plenty of that Carolyn Friedlander Crosshatch in White. I let a few pieces of it infiltrate the main event, and then slowly filled in blank spaces around the Mood Ring Blocks. Not only did I make a bigger quilt, but I made a more interesting one too. Try that on for size next time your fabric bundle is running low!
I’ve now got this Neon Nights Quilt folded nicely, and tucked away with its quilt back. I love how brightly it shines no matter where it is! It’s really serving all sorts of metaphor with lots of neon pink chiffon. Dare to be daring, darlings! Now that this gorgeousness is at a stopping point, I really should pull out one of those WIPs I mentioned earlier!
This is uber gorgeous! How did you quilt it ?
Isn’t it interesting how we can turn something “old” into something “new” with just a few tweeks or more “negative/blank” areas. We quilters are an imaginative bunch of people. 🙂 Mood Ring was great in the beginning, and now you’ve made it even better.
Get that sweet quilt off the street!!!😉

I love the addition of white to some of the rings. The quilt is stunning.
I’ll never tire of seeing this beauty Molli! 💖
