Sunday Stash #270 – Blur
Oh Sunday Stash how I love thee! I have this strict rule that I can’t use any new fabrics until I present them to you for Sunday Stash. Well, I need to be playing with these fabrics, so I best show them off for you. It’s all, “look at me,” “work work work,” “how you like me now,” around here. I have no definitive plans for any of these, but purchasing them did help me through a pretty rough spot.
I discovered when my brother died that I find refuse in shopping for fabric. It seemed to be the only thing that allowed me to give my brain a rest. It was the distraction (along with a martini) that my mind needed to feel at ease. Most of these came from I Love Fabric, although the weeks surrounding these purchases were such a blur, I can’t be entirely sure. I do know that most are from Tula Pink, which is such a departure from my typical fabric style.
Those aren’t fighting words though. They’re candy-coated brightness was (still is) just what I needed in my life. Despite the various fabric ranges, they all coordinate effortlessly together. My latest colour interests have veered towards happy-ever-after brights, pretty-in-pinks, and effervescent solids. These fit the bill perfectly. Who knew I had such a sweet tooth when it came to fabric?!
I’m always looking to restock my solids stash, and clean out some of those cheaper solids I bought when I was a new quilter. These are a combination of Cotton Coutures and Pure Elements that I find a smidge-and-a-half more luxurious than Kona. Hey, y’all know I’m an equal opportunity fabric employer, but sometimes you just wanna up the lux-levels. Ya, know?!
Wowza, Molli! They are gorgeous!

Dear Molli. It is so true that fabricshopping has taken me through the darkest of times. Twice in my career I have been gifted with a fabric shop located really close to my lace of work. 27 years ago when I found out my mom had terminal cancer (at 64) the only break from the agony was the brief joy in purchasing a couple of fat quarters. I think it is using the creative part of my brain that got me through. I am so sorry about the death of your brother. I must be hard. Hugs.
WOW! Love the bright fabrics. Of course, it’s all about the color. Sorry to hear about the lose of your brother. Loosing loved ones is sooooo difficult. Making a quilt in there honor helps to release the pain.
these are lovely. Now, how have I been missing the Sunday Stash. I know, I haven’t bought any fabrics!
I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my dad last week unexpectedly, and I took myself to a Long-arm Rental class yesterday even though I already knew all the information just to get out of the house and have a different mindset. It helped for a little while. By the way, I loved the grace marker your family made…so special. My brother is making a pottery urn for my dad’s ashes. I think he would have liked that.
