Sunday Stash #269 – Supporting Acts
We’ve been talking a lot about fabric lately–as one is prone to do–but there are a lot of items that make it into my stash that play a more supportive role. Much like a push-up bra, these bits, bobbities and boops give my projects a little extra cha-cha! So if you’re feeling a bit hey-hey-get-it-gurl today, check out what’s been making my panties drop!
I’ve been loving embroidered patches lately, so when I saw this one my bleeding heart just couldn’t say no! I need to find the perfect-fitting tee to slap this on and joosh it up a few levels.
A few weeks (months?) ago when I was in Shanghai, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Singapore, I discovered these Lecien nishikiito threads. I have no idea what they’re used for, but they were sparkly and vibrant. Isn’t that reason enough?
Don’t be a prick! Change your needle! They’re like $2.96 at Wal-Mart.
Truth tea, I’m still working on my first English Paper Piecing project, and I’ve got my second one lined up. So why did I go ahead and buy 2″ hexagons? One must always be prepared for the sewing apocalypse!
I was walking home from work one day recently, and I discovered the Sydney branch of The Fabric Store . Not good Jan, not good. I mean, the store is fabulous, but not good that it is on my way home from work! I escaped with only one piece, of sex-on-wheels gold PVC from Marc Jacobs. Who knew you could buy Marc Jacobs fabric!?
Back in January when I was in the US, I popped into Michael’s for a quick look around–because you just never know–and I stumbled across these charms. I immediately thought about charming the pants off a zipper though! Mmm-kay, a little reading rainbow bright indeed!
Okay, finally, this about sums it up, hey? A few more embroidery patches with my name in lights! Now if I can just get one of those college, stud-muffin, sporty-types to give me their letter jacket (#getnaked) I’ll be right. Until then, I’m holding onto my ankles because next week is more fabric fantasy!
I have been watching my neighbor do EPP with 1″ hexagons, I fell under her spell—-she is doing fabulous work, but with 1″ ?? way too small. So to follow in her footsteps I bought 1 3/4″ papers — the 5 packs of 50 each are still sitting in the drawer. Perhaps your new threads are for embroidery so you can make your own patches 🙂
Oooo! Pretty sparkly bits! I do want to EPP someday…someday! 🙂
-Jean ❤
Oh Marc! How you have grown! 2013

Love the doo-dahs, we have a costume fabric shop near us for skaters, dancers, lots of spandex and doo-dahs. The lame thread is a learning curve – sew slowly. But what a splash! Thanks for sharing
