Sunday Stash #211 – Flavours of the Month
Okay, after last week’s shiny, fabric overload, I really needed to tone it down this week. And by tone it down, I mean, check out all this awesome Aurifil thread that I recently added to my collection! I had an initial thought of buyer’s remorse because those two greys are oh so very similar. Then, I remembered one of my favourite movies, The Devil Wears Prada, which if anything, should be an inspiration to us all. That’s right, I bet you know where I’m going with this! Do you remember? The line where the assistant says, “It’s a tough call. They’re so different,” and holds up two nearly identical turquoise belts.
If you haven’t seen the movie, girl, it’s time you added it to your Netflix queue. If you have, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Yes, nearly identical, but completely different at the same time. But that’s us quilters! We will have a little bit of everything in all directions, won’t we?! I picked up these Aurifil threads from a bit all over the place! If you’re in Australia, you can’t go wrong with Ms. Midge, and if you’re in the US, well Bob’s your uncle! You’ll notice that bar the White 2024, they’re all 40 weight which is ideal for quilting. Foreshadowing, much?
For reference, Aurifil flavours in clockwise order beginning with the cone: 2024, 1133, 1310, 1240, 2600, 1231, 1158.

There are so many different tones of gray that I’m sure you’ll be glad to have those two on hand. Getting a bunch of Aurifil always makes me excited and eager to start quilting something!
HAHA I just watched that movie again last night. SO true. Quilt on with your bad self, Molli.
Ohhhh that eggplant! It’s on my short list as I add purples to my thread stash. But those “greys” are nothing alike – one is blue and one is grey and you most certainly needed both, Molli! Happy quilting! : )
Nice! 40 weights are great for quilting, although I did use a 28 weight recently and the effect was superb.
Nice picks! 40wt is brilliant for quilting. I love that film and that’s one of the funniest moments!
