Ten Things on Thursday – 09
Another week, another Thursday, and of course there’s always something to say! Read on to see a little glimpse of what’s been going on ’round here.
- So the fabric buying dam broke a few weeks ago, and now it’s flooding. Trust me when I say there’s a backlog of Sunday Stash posts!
- Alyce of Blossom Heart Quilts came for a visit and we spent yesterday doing a fabric shop hop of Sydney. It was miraculous, with places I’ve never been before, and I can’t wait to visit her in Melbourne to do the same.
- I’m currently drinking a spicy Bloody Mary. Medium spice, light on the blood and a whole lot of Mary!
- Committing to my goal, I finished all of my #100days100blocks #ShimmerCitySampler blocks this past weekend. Bam! Next up will be photographing them all so I can ensure I don’t miss a single day of posting on the ‘Gram.
- I’ve ordered some rulers from Sewing Machine Warehouse to use with the Juki QVP-2200 longarm. Here’s a cheers to another crazy learning adventure!
- Mr. Sparkles bought new toilet seats for both bathrooms. That’s one you don’t hear about every day!
- I started playing with batik fabrics again this week. I like to think of myself as an equal opportunity fabric employer! Maybe its my mission in life to show the modern quilt world how fabulous they are.
- I got asked by a work colleague and friend about making a quilt for her to give as a gift. I was upfront about the time it takes, as well as my minimum charge of $30 per hour for basic construction. With that disclosure, we are still proceeding. Don’t sell yourselves short!
- On the weekend I took my Don’t Be a Dick quilt out for a photo expedition, but it didn’t go so well. Finding the perfect backdrop for a quilt full of dicks is harder than you might think!
- Mr. Sparkles says he doesn’t like my project box storage under the long arm. “Empty floor, sweetie! Space, sweetie! White walls, sweetie!” Since he does most of the cleaning, I don’t really have a stiletto to stand on. That means it is time to reevaluate the whole studio storage!
Loft space sweetie!
I spied you shopping with Alyce on her Instagram story… I was excited this morning when I thought I might be close to having the first 50 done in my 100days100blocks you sure raised the bar on that one. Oh yeah and empty floor don’t think I’ve ever seen on of those around my house 🙂
OMG, Molli. You make me laugh. You make me cry (because you remind me of a dear friend that I miss so).
Please don’t change.
Looking forward to seeing all 100 blocks together, and your batik modern quilt – no pressure. Sounds like a fun shopping day having to find new storage solutions – isn’t IKEA the place to go for those sort of things?
Love number 6 and definitely agree that it is not something you hear or read every day. Well done Mr Sparkles.
The Don’t Be a Dick quilt might draw a lot of attention if it were hanging from a couple of toilet seats.
You put the image in my head by talking about toilet seats!!
