This week has been sort of aimless because I’ve sent both of my machines away to have a bit of a spa treatment. This is the first time in two-and-a-half years that my Juki TL-98P has been serviced. It’s not that I’m stingy with the facial peels, he just kept telling me that he doesn’t need to go. So I just kept sewing and sewing. Finally though, when Lou from Sewing Machine Warehouse came to pick up the TL-2200QVP for a small alteration (aka I broke a handle), he insisted he take my smaller machine with him as well. This is the first time I haven’t had a sewing machine in my house since June 2012—that is four years. I’ve had the shakes for the past two days. I keep drinking in the hopes that I’ll black out, but I’ve got my liver so well conditioned that it’s metabolising faster than I can skewer olives for my martinis!
Thankfully, I’ve got some patterns to work on, which are also on my Q2 FAL list, so I feel like I’m still being productive. The request for Don’t Be a Dick pattern testers went out today, so I’d expect in a few weeks you’ll be able to have a pattern in your hot little hands. I’m so excited! I’ve also completed two photo shoots this week for Gender Kisses and Tidal Pool quilts. I may even think about cleaning out my fabric stash tomorrow. Wow. Now that I’m thinking about it, not having my sewing machine is freeing up all sorts of time for progress on other things. Actually, with all this time, I’m gonna book in my own spa treatment!
I feel for you. A few months ago Coles had a very basic Singer model for $99 which I got for a backup machine. My husband said he’d rather I spent the money than have to listen to me complain about not being able to sew. Haha wise man
I have a little Bernette too as the backups backup. It’s is a little workhorse. Last year I had blackout fabric and purple pompoms to my granddaughter’s drapes. I hate being without a machine. Enjoy your spa time!
It’s hard to be without the machines, but I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with while they are at the spa.

I have a “cheap” Bernette that I keep on hand for emergencies! (And I’ve quilted a queen size quilt on that tiny thing!)

Time to buy a little “travel machine” so you don’t have to go cold turkey???
Funny I did that too – went for a hot stone massage whilst my machine was into spa . I think I benefited more than my ancient wrinkly machine did
My machine that I use on a frame is out for some cleaning love, and I’m lost without it. Guess I’ll be piecing for a few more weeks.
