2016 Finish-A-Long Q2
Okay, so Q1 was a bit of a disaster for me in terms of getting shit done. I’m not saying it was a quilting failure, because a lot happened to be excited about. My travel schedule just reeked havoc on ticking finishes off the list. I was a big fat 0 for 7. Yeah. Um, just put my name at the bottom of the list. But this is a new quarter, and I’m starting fresh, jazz hands blazing! I’m going to even do one better and put an extra item on my list. Screw lucky 7, let’s take it up a notch to my favourite number: 8!
Some of you have been asking, “What’s going on with the Gender Kisses quilts!?” Truth be told, I was working on this business last night, and it is nearly finished. The quilting is in progress, binding is made, and it will definitely be revealed this quarter!
I’ve mentioned this last week, in my welcome back post, but to make it official: The Divas Alphabet pattern will be released this quarter or you can use it to call me a liar.
So will the Don’t Be a Dick pattern. There are so many politicians to make this for in Australia, trust me, it’s a priority!
Mr. Sparkles’s quilt was destined to be done in time for our Australian winter, (which let’s face it, is going to be a big ask), but just in case I get a burst of manic energy, let’s leave it right where it is.
One of the things I took away from QuiltCon was that not every quilt needs to be ginormous. Small quilts are more than okay, and actually can be beautiful, even if they do only cover one of my legs. So I think that’s what’s going to happen with these lanterns: just get ‘er done.
I contemplated the same rationale here, just a small reversible number, day to night sort of ensemble. But I really, really, realllllly, want this to be a medallion quilt, with at least a few borders. Contemplation will probably keep it from crossing the finish line, but I do have the fabric pull set aside regardless!
I actually had my Tidal Pool quilt finished last quarter but didn’t get around to posting about it. Well, you can bet that’s gonna change, because it’s ready for its Glamour Shots photo shoot! I just need a fur-lined popped collar, lots of rouge, soft lighting, and an inappropriate pose for my age, and we’ll be good to go!
Looks like I’m already a winner with my You Learn quilt, as I posted its finish last week! I’m already 1 for 8, which is already 12.5%, light years beyond last quarter’s 0%!
So there we go, eight projects that I should only be working on over the next quarter. I’m sure (like most of us) I’ll find a way to add in another eight unscheduled must do immediately style projects that will slow these down. Wish me luck, and I can’t wait to see what you’ve got in store as well! Make sure you go to any of the blogs below to link up your own FAL lists!

Love LOVE your dick quilt 😉 I have the same problem with finishing what I start….I have the attention span of a fly with ADHD. 😉
You’re already off to a great start!
So many familiar lovelies in this list. I look forward to seeing the finishes. But if they don’t get finished, that’s okay. This is a hobby, right? You’re not doing piecework in a sweatshop. 🙂
I got nothing done off my list last quarter either. I got lots of things finished just nothing on my list…. Oh well. I am not even doing a list for this quarter – between travel, a new job and going back to full time work I just don’t want the (self imposed) pressure. Good luck with yours though!! I love your You Learn quilt – those blocks really come together in a fantastic way.
I got a big fat 0 for last quarter too! Hoping things turn around this time lol
Good luck! You’re quilting for you, so if things don’t get done on someone else’s schedule, so be it. But I do like the FAL to keep me focused on projects. And if they roll over into another quarter, let them roll.
It’s early on in the quarter , plenty of time
I never want to call anyone a liar so I am crossing my fingers for the alphabet! I have so many things I want to spell…at the top of my list is a quilt for my bed that says “that’s what she said” Funny No?!
Good luck with your projects and thank you for participating in the FAL, on behalf of the 2016 global FAL hosts!
