Sunday Stash #150 – Tokyo Textiles 03
I must be going soft. There are animals on my fabric, y’all. Animalzzzzzz!! Seriously, I don’t know what is going on, but Japan really must have got the best of me. You walk into a fabric store and you can find virtually any animal on a print somewhere in the place. We all know the normal ilk: deer, owls, a fox here and there, but I tell you what, I saw everything from meerkats to iguanas. That’s how they roll in Japan!
So to make sure I brought home the full experience, I just decided to dive in and go ba-zoo-kas blazing! I’ve been really interested in black and white fabrics lately, and have spent many late nights pondering some design potentials with them. I literally stumbled across these polar bears–no literally, the bolt was sticking out and I tripped over it!–which was a sign if I ever saw one! As for the pandas, well, it’s such a unique design that it makes a rorschach-like pattern. Those are my favourite type of animal prints, those with more subtle motifs rather than the ones that slap you over the head with their big puppy dog eyes.
Well, which leads me to … ahem, the puppy dog eyes. In my defence (very limited, I know) these fabrics were purchased for specific projects. The top one with the French Bulldogs (or Boston Terriers, I’m not quite sure, but I’m going with the former) is for some cushions I’m due to make for some good friends. They want a French Bulldog, but since they live in an apartment and are often away for work, they’ve decided now is not the right time. I’m hoping a little touch of this fabric will help them get some sparkle about the whole ordeal. Now, for those pugs. As soon as I saw it, my immediate thought was, “OH. EMM. GEE. Nick “Quilts From the Attic” would flip over this!” He has the cutiest-patootiest pug that you’ll often see floating across his Instagram feed. So I gave up all resistance, and just went for the whole shebang. When in Tokyo, right?!
As a total sidebar, someone asked me last week about the Sunday Stash linkup not showing correctly since moving to WordPress. Well, I think (er, maybe?) that I fixed that issue. I guess you’ll make sure to let me know this time around! I’ve also updated my Feedburner (I think) and I’ve sent a request to Bloglovin’ to update that feed address as well. Gettin’ there, Glitterati, slowly gettin’ there!

Cute! I think the polar bear fabric ambushed you and pounced on your (un)suspecting wallet! I confess I’ve had to delete and add your blog to my blogger list to get your new posts to update – I thought you’d gone suspicious quiet and maybe were working on some awesome secret new project… 😄
Haha I thought of Nick too! I look forward to see what you do with the black and white animals, I’m not keen on animals on fabric but the children like them so I have a few pieces.
I replied to an email from you earlier this week and it bounced back – not sure if that’s anything to do with your move, it was nothing important just a witty comment 😉
I definitely had to search your site out to link up today; hopefully Bloglovin’ will update soon!
Panda fabric – I want, I want, I want. It is to die for!
You are awesome!
