#NGAQB – July
Whew, and like that, I’m caught back up with my bee blocks! Mr. July in the No Girls Allowed Quilt Bee (#NGAQB) is the illustrious Ryan Walsh. Ladies and gents, you’re gonna want to stalk Ryan’s social media presence, because not only is he a looker, but he’s got three boys that are cutie-patooties, a few fierce, feline helpers, as well as a divine, design aesthetic. He asked us to make Elizabeth Hartman’s Knee Socks Quilt Block in bold colours of our choosing. I went completely scrappy, raiding my string drawers for both the white and colour sections. This block finishes at a whopping 24″, and would make a phantasmagoric mini-quilt all by itself! Read on for a bit more about Ryan!
Ryan Walsh is a self taught quilter and quilt designer who enjoys taking classic quilt designs and updating them with a modern twist. He’s employed full time as a NYS Licensed Funeral Director and manages a funeral establishment in his hometown. A busy dad, the majority of his quilting adventures occur in the late hours of the night after his kids are in bed!
Ryan uses quilting as a vehicle to satisfy his never ending need to be creative. His work is based around combining traditional piecing methods with free-style construction techniques. As a way to challenge his ability, Ryan participates in several online bees and quilt related swaps every year.

I like that, I like that a lot…
That's one big block! I'm liking your scrappy colours.
I like those blocks. Good use of scraps, too!
It is wonderful! Makes me think of Caribbean beaches…
I like this block, it will be interesting to see a whole quilt using the blocks.
What fun block. Thanks for posting the tutorial…it looks like fun AND a great way to use up those small pieces of fabric that manage to clutter my stash!
Looking good! Want to catch me up with my blocks now? I have 2 medallions to tackle o.O
Gotta love that one block with the bespectacled deer. It's perfectly centered so he stands out. Love it!
Are girls aloud to comment?! 😛
I love this, I think I love just about everything with lots of colour! It just seems to add sparkle!
