Sydney Craft & Quilt Fair 2014 – A Winner & A Recap
First things first, let’s announce the winner of the rainbow fat quarter giveaway that celebrated my first exhibition show at the Sydney Craft & Quilt Fair 2014. Y’all know I love a rainbow about as much as I love that glitter in your eye, so I’m thrilled to be sending this Molli Sparkles bundle to:
Kacey who blogs at The Little House in Vinecrest Woods
You know what is so awesome about Kacey? She wasn’t a no-reply blogger! Goodness gracious, great balls of fire, Little Richard and I implore you: How To Stop Being a No-Reply Blogger. (Yes. You, sitting there thinking, “Man, I wish I could have won this. I don’t know what the hell Molli is talking about with this no-reply blogger stuff, but this bundle had my name all over it.” Please, click the link!)
Kacey, I’ll be in touch to get your deets! Air kisses, pixie dust, and confetti cannons for your win! Now, as for the show itself … I just, I can’t even. When you walk into a giant exhibition hall and the first thing you see is this:
How do you even respond? If you’re like me, you respond by putting little sparkly, star stickers all over your billboard! Mmm hmmm! If you’re like some others, you respond by saying, “Who the hell is Molli Sparkles?” Oh, and don’t you worry, I let the world know who this piece of fabulousness is!
It took the better part of a day, but between myself, Mr. Sparkles, and my father-in-law (who is forever christened as “K.Spark”) we set up my booth at the front entrance. I showcased fifteen projects in my six-by-seven metre space (twenty-by-twenty-three feet). I also brought along my Juki, my hats, and my glitter collections. I chose to leave the weaves at home because I didn’t want any of the No Chintz ladies across the aisle to decide they needed to let their hair out!
The entire show was fantabulous of course! I spoke to so many engaging individuals, and even had a chance or two to give some Truth Tea to some not so engaging individuals if you catch my drift! (The Molli Sparkles booth is a Quilt Police exclusion zone, thank you very much!) Then one morning on my way to the fair, I was getting ready to walk out the door, last sip of coffee, and what do I see!? Um, the weather girl wrapped in a Molli Sparkles original?! No! It couldn’t be! Yes! Yes, it is! Do you see her teeth chattering? Nope, she is all smiles!
Each floor talk I gave was well attended, with lots of questions and discussion afterwards. If you happened to be there, and have any follow up questions or feedback about them, feel free to drop me a line. I love discussing this stuff, so hit me with it. If you’re wondering, “Am I a member of the Glitterati yet?” Girl, you’re membership card is in the mail! For those that couldn’t be there in person, I made a little three minute video to show off my booth. I hope you enjoy it!
Yes, it really was, WO-WO-WO-WOW! Oh, and if you think this is the tip-toe-tappin’-top of Molli Sparkles: you ain’t seen nuthin’ yet. (But, I might just need to take a very short nap first!)
It looks brilliant, such a big space too, well done, hope you're having a well deserved rest!
A cup of tea and a lie down is MOST definitely in order girlfriend! You were all colours of fah-bu-larse. It's such a shame they did away with the glitter cannons after the first day, they added a whole new dimension to your booth, cleaners and their unions, I mean, really, there is no Molli without a little sparkle, right?
And I know we ain't seen nothing yet, the best is really yet to come… wink, wink, nudge nudge…
Sing it, Molli!! I had to "roll" 5 times for a winner of my last giveaway due to so many people being not only no-reply bloggers, but they didn't have a blog, or anything linked to their name! Your booth is gorgeous! Congrats on having a quilt make a TV cameo!
Put those feet up, looks like you had a fab show :0)
I am so glad you included the video of your booth. Including the sofa was a brilliant idea, I bet it was great fun.
Wow is right. I certainly would have loved to be a fly on the wall when you were sharing a little Truth Tea with the not-so-engaging individuals. LOL
Thanks for the video. The booth looks wonderful.
Wow, wow, wow. Most definitely. Great idea to include the sofa and tv. And the shoes ofc. The No Value Does Not Equal Free quilt looks a-maz-ing. I'm loving the quilting on it. Congrats on what I'm sure was a brilliant show.
Thank you for showing your booth! I was so curious!
I am so happy for you and your success!!!
Esther
I love, and laughed out loud, at the description of your 11 am floor talk. You know how to tell it!
Your booth looks lovely, and I'm so glad you stood your ground with the Quilt Police!
Re: the whole "no-reply blogger" thing, maybe it's time to come over to the dark side and start self-hosting? I suspect many of those "no-reply bloggers" are not bloggers at all, just sweet folks who are willing to sign up for yet another account for the privilege of using Blogger's frankly rather dated comment system.
Well this was a pretty awesome way to end a Monday workday! Congrats again on all your recent success, Molli!
I'm ever so slightly disturbed that the ad floating over your video seems to suggest I should be taking drugs while watching it… maybe it's so I'll see the stars better ;o)
I didn't realise the lvdef quilt had the words quilted into it! It's amazing. LOVE your displays.
I'd love to see your white quilt closer. Live the booth, it's like being home!
Loved seeing your booth! I'm so excited for you I almost wet 'em…oops…. 😉
One day I shall get to see (some) of those quilts in person, and I cannot wait! I am still head over heels in love with your Pat Bravo quilt, like, seriously keep it locked up if and when I see that one.
Love your booth – thanks for the video of it and all the sparkly gorgeousness of your quilts!! The shoes were the perfect touch 🙂 Have you started scheduling your world tour???
Molli Girl, I've got to tell you how proud and happy I am for you and wish I was in closer proximity so that I would have been able to visit you at your debut in Sydney as a guest artist. Loved your video and since I didn't win the giveaway, I'm laying claim to the blue trip around the world. LOL You have such a talent for selecting just the right colors to compliment each other, and that button quilt (rug) is so damn cute! Can't wait to see what your next sparkly creation will be.. Hugs
So pleased you added the video to show off your fabulousness. Had planned to visit the show on Sunday, but circumstances prevented… excuses, excuses. Congrats on everything you have achieved. Enjoy the accolades!!!
What fun! The booth looks fab and fun that you got a video – I enjoyed that. Love seeing so many of your quilts. But did that weather girl just help herself to your quilt for a publicity shot? hmmmm.
You didn't mention all your Converse Shoes all over your site!… I am the lady who makes the Fig Jam.. (and others.. remember me?)… yes I will email you tomorrow about getting your hands on some.
Your no value quilt is amazing, such a great quilting job! And I love that you showed the back of your batik quilt instead of the front 🙂
Oh Molli. Oh, MOLLI. You get me excited about quilting in ways I never thought were possible, if you know what I mean 😉
Really, I have never been so enthusiastic about what I do at my sewing table. So glad I found our blog <3<3<3
Are you going to QuiltCon? Because I need to see this IN PERSON.
Oh oh oh, and lookie! No longer no reply! (I thought I had fixed it earlier, but I hadn't. I'm a wordpress blogger too, which makes things bunky, but now I think it's all good!)
Thank you for showing us your display space. It is so great to be able to see how these things are done, and your style just makes it all sing 🙂 Take a minute for yourself before you start giving it all back to us! XX!
Congrats to Kacey, you lucky duck! And thanks for the booth tour Molli. Great quilts and your chucks were the perfect touch.
Your booth looked wonderful and I saw the weathergirl too. I swore up and down to my husband it was a coincidence that we ended up in Sydney on Sunday. I'm not sure he believed me! Now we are back in the US and wide awake at 11 PM!
You've got it…Wow, wow, wow, WOW!
