Shoespiration & A Quiet Play Pattern
If you’ve been to the Sydney Craft & Quilt Fair this week you have probably noticed I’ve been rockin’ some pretty serious kicks. These gold lamé Converse All Stars are a favourite of the thirty-odd pairs of shoes I have. They run a close second to the diamond-encrusted Louboutins I wear for casual Fridays!
So many people have looked around my booth and asked, “What’s with all the shoes?” because I brought them all with me to add a personal touch to the visual experience. I just have to say, “You never know when you’re going to need a costume change!” Seriously, my Chucks are another way I express myself. I adore the colourful options that are available, and I never get bored with creating interesting colour combinations with whatever bright outfit I happen to be wearing that day. I’ve even used them for quiltspiration!
So to help me commemorate my footwear, and my time at the Sydney Craft & Quilt Fair, I asked my friend Kristy from Quiet Play to help a sista out. I was all like, “Girl, Mama needs some new shoes.” Kristy was totally on board, “Molli, hold tight, I will lace you up, like you’ve never been laced before.” Well, that’s one I hadn’t heard, but it left me intrigued by that saucy minx!
Well in typical paper-piecing-queen fashion, may I present to you Kristy’s special gift to me! A paper-pieced pattern showcasing my Converse High Tops! Well hello there, sexy, this is almost as good as the real thing! Now I can make them in whatever colour my heart desires! Kristy is offering this pattern to you from her blog for only $2.95 (<– less than a coffee, and definitely less than a pair of Converse!)
I’m obviously in the throes of a few other things, so I haven’t had a chance to make it for myself yet. Kristy was a total show-off and whipped this up in a night though! Rest assured, you’re gonna see this in every colour of the rainbow once I catch my breath! If you’d like to join me, make sure you go grab yours so we can turn this world into our own sneaker heaven!
Gotta find some pink glitter fabric!
Love this pattern! I want to make it with little grommets and thread real shoelaces through them!
Fabulous
Hahaha, that is probably Kristy's best pattern yet – these will look great in every fabric under the sun!
I sure hope these get made with gold metallic fabric. Pretty please? 🙂
What a great pattern – I sense some nephew's xmas pressies with this ….
Magic….. again.
Was so delighted to meet you today at the show, I wish I got to chat more about your creations. I had no questions about the converse I totally understand I own 15 pairs myself and I'm totally getting that paper piece from quiet play! Enjoy the rest of the show, I will see you on Instagram 🙂
Love your shoes, the oldest daughter wore burgundy and gray converse under her wedding dress the day she got married.
What a team we make! I cannot wait to see how you sparklify this pattern Ms Molli! 😉
Already bought the pattern and can't wait to make them for my Tomboy 21 year old daughter who gets away with wearing converse to her computer job everyday! She loves her converse and has a fair collection but sadly no pink! She would never wear such a pretty colour 🙂 Love your goldies.
Stop it!!! That pattern is awesome! So enjoying your blog and your work 🙂 XX!
Ha, good to see I'm not the only one with a collection of Converse in different colours. No gold lame round here though, I feel strangely bereft…
Wow, is the converse star even paper pieced that is amazing. I think I would have liked your Uncle Junior (earlier post), can we get some more pie over here, lol gotta keep on improving.
Dude, what's with all the white laces? No neon green or orange or purple or sparkly ones?
Bonus points for those gold converse, I haven't seen those. Got the silver ones and the iridescent ones in the hallway here.
And where are your superhero converse?
I agree that you need to coordinate and make a statement with the shoes – match the outfit. I don't see any in shocking pink to go with that feather hat! At least accessorize with the shocking pink laces – we must accessorize to make the outfit.
I think we should pair up the shoe blocks with the shirt blocks that everyone is crazy about. Maybe we should have a Molli block, shirt, shoes, hat and all!
Keep up the fabulous blog!
Too flippin' awesome, I've bought 2 new pairs this year, both in Marimekko prints! Now I just need to decide what I should do with the paper pieced block.
