The Biggest Thing To Happen Yet
Have you ever held a secret so special that it feels like a tiny orb of light in your hands is trying desperately to escape? You want to set it free, but you know you need to let it grow just a little bit larger to make sure it’s real. Then finally, after what seems like a thousand lifetimes of eternity, it appears completely fulfilled, and both your fists are too small to contain it any longer. So you let it go, hoping its white brilliance will shine brighter to the world than it ever would have in your hands.
Well, Glitterati, it is time to let my kitty out of the bag, and I just know…
Do you recognise that sign? If you’re a Sydney-area quilter, you probably do. Or perhaps you’ve read Sunday Stash #27 from June 17, 2013 when I prophetically wrote:
After all this fabric shopping, I did wander through the quilt show featuring over four hundred quilts on display ranging from small, small minis to extra large super kings. However, I think most of them went fabric shopping at last years Quilt Fair, as most were just a bit drab and floral for my liking. There was some amazing technique, but goodness, let’s brighten this place up! One of the fabric vendors did say to me, “So we’ll expect to see your quilt in next year’s show.” Oh honey, that goes without saying.
So what’s going on!? Oh honey, you don’t know the half of it! I was recently contacted by one of the organisers of the Sydney Craft & Quilt Fair who wanted to know if I would be interested in speaking for a few hours at the event about my journey and my quilts!!! As soon as I read the email, I kinda saw bright lights, blacked out for a moment, then handed my phone to Mr. Sparkles and said, “Can you tell me what that says, because I think I must have had too much champagne.”
It wasn’t the champagne, darlings. They did indeed want Molli B. Sparkles as a guest presenter! I very quickly emailed back (mustn’t give them time to change their minds) with a resounding, “Yes! Yes! YESSSSS!!!” But this story doesn’t stop here. Oh no, no, no. After a few more email exchanges, it was decided that I needed to spend quality time with my people–you, the Glitterati–and the only way to do that was to have my own booth, for all. five. days. ::: WHAT::: That’s right: I have been gifted a rather large booth, at the very entrance to the Fair, where I can meet, greet, and blog you all five days long
While there have, of course, in past years been other quilters in attendance with blogs, I am the first (and a guy, no less!) to be promoted as a Meet the Blogger type affair. I know I say it a lot, but HAVE. YOU. EVER. ?!()#*R%@#::!! So now, I’ve submitted photos for publication in their preview magazine, which will also detail my bio and the two floor talks I will be giving each day!!! Seriously, enough already! Then yesterday I interviewed with their media coordinator, and she asked, “How do you feel about doing radio?” Jaw: meet floor. I think I’m gonna need a J.Lo backup dancer to hold me up.
So now, I am in overdrive mode, trying to finish as many projects as I possibly can. My brain is spinning with booth ideas, because you know it has to be fabulous. Plus, I’m at the very entrance–no where to hide! I’ve got just a month to pull this together, as the Fair is July 9th-13th. Wish me luck and throw some sparkly fairy dust my way, because I’m gonna need every bit I can get. I do hope if you’re in the area that you’ll be able to come say hello. I want to meet the Glitterati, talk about my quilts, social media, and the amazing stuff that happens when they decide to party together!
That’s it for now, but I’ll keep you updated on any further news that comes my way!
Me. I Am Molli: The Sparkling Quiltese.

Freaking amazing! Wish you weren't on the other side of the world and I could come by to see your amazing sparkly booth 🙂
*throws fairy dust all over the show* Amazing news. Sooooo many quilt and craft shows could do with a bit of sparkle and pizzazz and who better to spread it around?
oops my ipad disobeyed me and I couldn't continue…new message. Sydney have it sorted!! Just need to get some modern quilt shops (and fabric) with booths and they will be on a roll. I can't wait to see what you come up with…especially the colours!! Love xxxx
WOW! What an honour! You can totally pull together a booth and finish enough quilts in time- and you won't be needing any J.Lo back up dancers for help either, but they would be kinda fun in your booth.
Ooh, stupendously exciting news! It's such a great idea on their behalf, I'm sure you'll be personally responsible for a huge increase in numbers & will encourage an exciting & more modern-ish demographic. I'll be there for sure & I wasn't planning on visiting before your fabulous news. Well done you!
Amazing! I'll be there for sure. Brand Molli is just going from strength to strength!
Woohoo!!! I have no doubt you'll produce a showcase of sparkling colour in a month. Many congratulations!!!

Whoever thought up this idea deserves a medal!! Very exciting! Surely they can add Melbourne and make it a national tour?
Judging from the slightly extrovert qualities of your blog (ahem) I think you will have a blast! Of course, you'll be bleating like a lamb at the end of each day (needing the Cone of Silence to recover perhaps) but this sounds like just the forum/thing/booth for you! Have a great time and I'll look forward to reading all about it!
I think the heavens knew what they were doing when they sprinkled that glitter all over you all those years ago. I am so happy for you, that's an exciting adventure. Look out world, Molli takes Sydney…then the world!!!!
That's the most amazing news!!! Congrats!

That's awesome! Congrats! And good luck at the show (like you need it!)
Ahh, we can say we knew you when… Congrats! I'm just hoping the great and the good of our 'local' quilt show (45 miels away in Edinburgh) eventually embrace the internet, never mind anything else lol

Congratulations – talk them into sending you to the Hamilton, NZ craft show too – then we can meet you as well.
You're going from strength to strength, and so well deserved. Congrats. Sending lots of sparkly fairy dust your way and a couple of magic unicorns too. That should help you in the busy weeks ahead.
Oh, wow, no pressure there…
Congratulations and don't let it drive you crazy getting everything created and picked out for the booth.
Well, OBVIOUSLY. I am waiting for your QuiltCon workshop on ombré geese though. 2017?
Pretty soon you will have a reality TV show if you are not careful. Congratulations, I know you will have a lot of fun and I am looking forward to the blog posts you write.

You will be fabulous! (Aren't you always?) Wish I could be there!
I found your blog "by accident". And I enjoy it soooo much! Love your works and reading your posts – keep it that way.
I wish you tons of fun – not only in the fair, but also in preparing it. (I had to organize exhibitions, booths etc for a company a while back and it is fun).
And… I'll now go to my window here and send some sparkling glitter dust to you – and hope it'll arrive on time, as I live in good Ol'Germany.
Congratulations – I'm looking forward to reading your posts on your experience.
