Sunday Stash #45 – Don’t Judge Me
Don’t judge me. I had to suspend the Magic Suitcase V2.0 unveiling this week because I sort of went off the rails and supplemented my stash with some purchases. Sigh. But I needed them! I promise I did. Yeah, you can stop rolling your eyes at me, that is if you want to keep that weave attached to that pretty lil head of yours. Mmm.
These first three are all of the whites I bought while on my trip to Canberra with Grandma Sparkles. (Local quilt shop reviews here). I made the photos a bit darker than they really are so you can see the patterns in each. They are even more subtle in real life. I’m tentatively calling this quilt “No Value Does Not Mean Free” because I may be a fabric hooker but Molli don’t work for free. Snap!
So then I got (what seems to be) my monthly instalment of fabric from Intrepid Thread. Ms. Julie is not good for fabric hookers like me. She just baits it in front of me, and I always fall for it. Always.
Yes, I did buy all of the remaining Color Me Retro stock, and no, you can’t have any of it. Don’t make me get my whip! These are destined for quilt backs (they don’t have a front yet–no bother!) and I know I have a few Color Me Retro quilts in me. I must get them done before Jeni’s new line, Dreamin’ Vintage drops in April! (Nordika? Meh.)
I also picked up some yardage of Salt Air for quilt backs. I have found Salt Air pleasant since it first came out, and while I have no current quilts for it, these will be geometric enough to squash my floral fears.
Collage! Great purples and great reds! These are severely lacking in my stash, so I was glad to grab half yards of all of these. Oh, and yeah, okay, throw the yellow in as well!
Lush Uptown, you had me at ombre.
Okay, I know you’re now thinking, WTF is that floral doing in there. I know. I know. There is no excuse. But I can’t help it, I love it! Let me scream it from the rooftops: I LOVE IT! The watercolor-ness of it all, the ombre of oranges, the translucent teal, the pops and sketch of the blooms. It is everything I want in a floral. I could frame it and put it on my wall. Actually…
Linking up with Fiona at Finding Fifth Foster at Foster Reviews It for this week’s Sunday Stash-a-thon!
Love the pictures and of course all the fabrics. Keep dragging the magic suitcase along…keep us all waiting. Lol
What is that floral called? I'm not a florals fan either, really, but that is just beautiful. I love when a fabric reminds me of another art form.
Ha, I have called Julie and evil temptress on more than one occasion. You threaten us with the whip like its a bad thing! Sheesh.
So does that stuff come by envelope or by truck? ;o)
Molly, you talking about and showing your latest fabric purchases make my day! Really, I started to think that I was addicted to fabric and way out of line with my purchases but compared to you I have way to go 🙂 the only difference may be that I tend to buy at least 2yards so that It does not feel like a loss if I actually use the fabric. There are quite some fabrics in my almighty stash that I take out from time to time only to adore. Somehow I can't make myself cut into them… Did I mention already that m husband keeps insisting that my fabric stast will someday lead to the collapse of our house? Of course he is exaggerating…
Can't wait for another update on the magic suitcase.
Martina
Ha! You fabric floozie, you just can't say no can you?! I'm seriously wondering where on earth you put it all?
We would never roll our eyes at you. She who lives in a glass house should never cast the first stone. We are all fabric floozies and yes, that Julie is evil. Just when you swear to not buy fabric for a while, there's a sale or a new shipment or a restock of something you can't resist. I could un-sign up for the updates, but I don't really want to. Love all your new fabrics!!
Have you seen Laura Gunn's fabrics? I am not a fan of flowery things either (unless they are wrapped in cellophane and being given to me with a smile and a kiss) but her poppy's are in my stash ready to be made into cushions when that new couch arrives in my lounge room…As for Julie, she should start a support group or stop sending email offers… 2 choices really!
Loving those white on whites. Keep buying fabric by the FRE full it makes me feel so much better!
Molli, I knew there was a floral out there for you! Careful though, I too used to shun florals and now, you should see some of the granny florals in my stash (I've grown to love them all like homely children!)
Great pictures of the Collage fabric….so tempted to get some now!
Ha, I'm exactly the opposite when it comes to Miss Baker. Color me Retro and Dreaming Vintage meh. Nordika is like my crack, I love it so much.
Ooh, that white one with the lines and bubbles, is it the one that shimmers? I hope so as its so pretty. I praise you for your good taste and personal efforts on behalf of the world economy, well done! And I'll look at this post over n over. Love the collage. I want more of the Saltair as well. I got several yards of the blue, red and yellow scallops and they seem to work so perfectly for bag linings. Now I don't want to use them up!
So many lovely things once more. I predict you will find a good use for all of them, which will be the perfect excuse to buy more fabric.
