#MSBHQAL – Week 08
Week 08 – Oct 21 – Oct 27 – Binding & Label
You’re nearly there! Take a page from this guy’s book and grab your binding, and your label (Admit One so aptly named!), and get that #MSBHQAL quilt finished! Seriously, it is time. If you’re completely finished, spend this week sewing this guy some #MSBHQAL underwear capable of covering both ass cheeks.
Or are you buried under your quilt top this week sewing on that last sashaying strip? Or maybe you’re sprawled across it trying to get it basted tight but your pinky toe isn’t quite long enough? Or is your quilt top done and you’ve folded it up, shoved it in a corner and it’s pleading with you, “Why aren’t you finishing me? I deserve love too!” Well, if you’re any of those, let me introduce you to Ms. Ellie-Mae:
Oh, no, no no no, I got that wrong. Ms. Clampett is definitely not who I’m talking about. I’m talking about the fabulous, Australian long-arm quilter, Ellie-Mae McDonald from country New South Wales. (You can probably see how I got confused for a second!) She is itchin’ to get her hands on your #MSBHQAL quilt, and work some thread artistry on it. She does custom edge-to-edge quilting for $4.50 per square foot. Check out her blog Dust Bunnies and Sequins and further photographic evidence and you’ll see she is completely wack-a-doo, which is most defintely #mollisparklesapproved. Shoot her an email if you like her brand of crazy, and I gather your #MSBHQAL quilt will wind up pretty sparkly.
Now, all that being said, I need to tell you that flimsy quilt tops PAUSE. — Do you know how much I dislike that term? Flimsy quilt tops. I get it; I completely understand the etymological implication. But “flimsy” has such a negative connotation for me. And, girl, my quilt tops may not be quilted, but they are stur-day–nothin’ flimsy ’bout them. So we won’t be usin’ that term round these parts. — UNPAUSE.
I need to tell you that quilt tops are eligible for the final linkup, they don’t have to be quilted!
I’m going to open up the linky at this time next week and it will stay open until Wednesday, November 5th. That’s when a few of you are going to win some fabo prizes! Prizes? There are prizes? Tell me more!
What about a $50 gift certificate from my favourite place to buy fabric, Intrepid Thread? YES!
Or could you use just a little bit of Aurifil? Maybe, a little bit! Or A LOT!
Shit, need to catch up
I'd love to be able to link up but its definitely not happening! Will be waiting to see what everyone came up with though. Already a couple of goodies on Flickr! Bring forth the broken herringbones!
So what you're saying is we have just one week to design and quilt up a #MSBHQAL butt cover? I'm on it!
Please do this!
It must incorporate the themes: herringbone, rainbow, and cheeky.
Not a chance in h-e-double toothpicks that I'll be done in time. I'll console myself though with another ogle of the young man in the first photo. I could break a tooth biting into that! 😉
I am sitting back and relaxing because mine is all finished – heck so finished I folded it up and put it in a cupboard! There are reasons for my actions I promise!
3 tops done, 2 dodgily FMQ'd, 1 with binding half sewn on… I am in UFO hell! With a BAS to complete and spot fires that keep breaking out in the next suburb I have been living on the edge for weeks now…
On a more positive note – Ellie-Mae does amazing work. The picture of the quilt with the kids in school uniforms, that (and another one which isn't photographed) are mine! Remember Amelia and I were stitching faces on at the French Cafe we met at a few months ago? Well, the tops are done, quilted and bound, well one is complete, the other I am working on (still) hand stitching the binding… another UFO but this one has a deadline of the last week of November so chop chop!
Huh, his tighty-whities apparently shrunk in the wash…
Good lord – I feel like a cup of tea and an iced bun (<– pun intended) now!
