Blogger’s Quilt Festival: Walking On Sunshine
I’ve completely held out on joining the Blogger’s Quilt Festival, because as I’m only four quilts in, I still feel a bit inexperienced. That all too common I’m not worthy feeling crept in, and so I hesitated. But, and if you’re a regular visitor, you know there’s always a but (I like big butts, and I can not lie…) after speaking to my quiltspiration, Grandma Sparkles, today in Oklahoma, my feelings changed. If she can dodge some fierce tornadoes, I can dodge some insecurities!
My first quilt, Walking On Sunshine, was the first quilt I created. I made this with Grandma Sparkles in mind, because since her and Papa Sparkles raised me, it was always like, get this, walking on sunshine. Brilliant! As I am entering this into the scrap quilt category I can already see you wondering, with arched eyebrow, if you’d never made a quilt, how did you have scraps? Well, I just started collecting yellow fabrics from everywhere I could because I knew I wanted this scrappy postage stamp quilt look. So I had to create my scraps from scratch! That’s sort of backwards, but I’ve always done things a bit differently.

Oh I like the look. It's just that yellow that doesn't let me to jump over the moon. Does that make sence? lol
Great quilt! I just love the all the different values of fabric all in yellow and B&W.
This is a great postage stamp quilt – I love yellow! It is so fun to look at.
Pretty sure your first quilt puts any of the rest of ours to shame. If this is just the beginning I cannot wait to hop on this magic sparkly carpet ride 😉
Good to know Grandma Sparkles has dodged those tornados. I love this quilt, so bright and sunny!
Looks like a good exchange for the magic suitcase to me!
So what if you're new! You obviously have a great eye for quilting – this is another gem. Beautiful work. Sparkle on, my friend!! ( I sooo added you to my reader…)
I love yellow, so I think your quilt is brilliant! It's hard to believe that's your first — you definitely have an eye for color and pattern. 🙂
Wonderful! An excellent first quilt!
This is really great and love the colors:)))))
Love love love!
love it!! Color choice is OUTSTANDING!!!
I love it! I have this problem with scraps too. There's everyone making entire quilts from scraps and there's me, having to cut the corners off yardage to use to make hexies and scrappy borders, lol 🙂 I love the words you've put on the binding too 🙂
Really nice. Well done for your first quilt!
Hey Sparkles, you're a natural at this quiltmaking game. What a great, sunshiny quilt you made. I can't believe it was your first!
