Are y’all watching American Idol? I’ve briefly touched on my love of all things POP before (with shout-outs to Mariah Carey #pow), but now I am laying it all out there for the world to see. This past week, two of the greatest living pop stars collided on the Idol stage in an all out celebrity geek-out love fest! Kelly Clarkson performed new single, People Like Us, and afterwards showed complete (and rightfully so) I’m-not-worthy-of-the-goddess-that-sits-before-me attitude towards Mariah. While Ms. Minaj rolled her eyes around, Mariah ascended the stage to congratulate Kelly and sing her praises. Two of my faves gushing over each other?! I literally could not.
Well, except when about ten minutes before this magical scene, contestant Candice sang a cover of The Cure’s, Love Song. Not only was it the best performance of the entire season, it ranks as a top five performance in the history of the show. Mariah even took a page out of my playbill because at the end of said performance, she got out of her chair, sashayed up the stage to Candice and threw glitter into the air. When Mariah “Glitter-is-the-best-film-ever” Carey decides you are worthy of her own glitter, you best be lickin’ that shit up off the floor. This type of behaviour is definitely Molli Sparkles Approved.
You know what else is MSA? Some more of this Magic Suitcase fabric from Grandma Sparkles!! This sucker keeps spitting out fabric goodies like a Thai ping pong ball artisan! It’s a good thing I love fabric and ping pong! These are a few blues and whites left over from my Collecting Memories quilt, but also some randoms that didn’t quite make the cut. I’ll make it up to them someday, I promise.
Also, this week, I have to announce the winner of my first giveaway in honour of my 10,000th page view. There were 29 people who entered by leaving comments on last Sunday’s post, so all of you had a pretty good shot! I’m having Mr. Sparkles push Mr. Random Number Generator’s buttons so I’m not accused of just choosing my faves. Because you know I totally would. (Shout out to my girl, Shaniqua!!!) Okay, so the winner is:
Congratulations! I’ll be sending these bright and lovelies to you this week. Let’s connect!
Linking up with Fiona at Finding Fifth for this week’s Sunday Stash-a-thon!
You should do the same.
Because contrary to popular opinion, my entire life is not about fabric.
Dang! I need to start recording American Idol. A true Glitter Bomb for fabulousness!Maybe we should all start carrying glitter on our persons to glitter bomb someone, or something fabulous?
Laughing all the way, as usual. I didn't watch American Idol this week, looks like I missed a good one! Your magic suitcase sure does have some great fabrics – so lucky !!
Oh. my. god. I just snorted. And I'm at work. Firstly, I'm going to have to google the Love Song performance – I slept outside what was then called 'The Tennis Centre' back in 1992 to get tickets to The Cure. Hardcore yes? And secondly, I still feel sad I never got to see myself a real life ping pong artist whilst honeymooning with my first husband in Thailand. Shame. Lastly – I need myself a magic suitcase. Filled with fabric.
Thank you Molli, can't believe I missed this post and I was the winner of some magic suitcase goodies! Teach me not to skip my blogs along with my break fast! Thanks again lovely!
Ok so I am a year+ late to the game here. So loving this blog. (Making my fingers itch to start sewing.) But I HAD to say I totally got the thai reference Priscilla!
What a goulash this week. Idol, glitter, fabrics, ping pong. Oh my goodness, slow down a bit, lol.
