Fondle, If It Tickles Your Fancy
Oh my sparkles! Blog viewership hit an all time high for Sunday Stash, and Nancy Drew’s coming out party. Don’t worry, I’ve welcomed her into my home with loving arms. Plus, she’s got George and Bess to keep her company. Mmm hmmm. Need I say more?
Everyone keeps stopping me on the street, asking, “Molli, the world wants to know, what are you making with Get a Clue?” And world, I have to tell you, at this stage, nothing! Oddly enough–odd, for some–I wanted the fat quarter bundle just to own. I’m not completely insane, crazy, over the top for the colour way, so it will have to be the perfect pattern to present itself, at the exact right moment. I was always more interested in owning it, than using it.
I’m okay with that. A wise new friend said to me recently, “People collect things. I collect fabric. I put it on my bookshelf, I look at it, play with it, and then sometimes use it. That’s perfectly okay.” I couldn’t have said it better myself. I think I’ll write her name down on the next election ballot for Queen of the Universe. People collect dish ware, stamps, baseball cards and all sorts of other things that they simply put on a shelf or in a book and admire. I’m learning for me, fabric is no different, except, more often than not, I do use it! So who’s laughing now? Bam! Moral of the story: collect and fondle all you like, but only if it tickles your fancy. Mmm hmmm.
And now, two completely random photos taken on my shopping expedition this week. It’s not clearly evident, but that dress was littered with sparkle, and I know it is something Molli would pull off better than a slutty cheerleader’s push up bra. The second, well, now there is no reason for anyone not to sparkle, none. If you don’t own a phone, I will literally come glue glitter to your face. Fun for me, maybe not for you. Toodles!
Aww gotta love my Colleen 🙂 And girl, you should so get that dress!
I now dare to admit: I collect!
🙂
Which explains why, Miss Molli, that there is fabric I simply can't cut! It's too precious. I love your words, which help explain to the world what it is that drives Collectors. I hope that you are bringing home one of every colour of those glitter pens. You can line them up on your mantelpiece, Mr Sparkles will love it! 🙂
Oh goodness, you should have kept it a mystery for a while. I just signed up to your blog to keep on track and you spoiled it all so soon.
Or maybe it's a red herring.
So did you buy the Union Jack cover dipped in glitter?
Molli, I know what you mean about the colorway for Nancy. I just finished and am basting my top for the blog hop. It turned out quite different from what I originally pictured but my cousin, who learned to read with Nancy Drew, is going to love it! Now, I've just got to decide what to do with the leftovers! By the way, I recently started putting my stash on mini-bolts…all the better to see and pet it!
