Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny
Just a quick check in to showcase some of my process and insane decision making. You see, I’m making this Road to Tennessee (Location TBD) quilt, and as I was cutting the corners off each of the two hundred odd blocks, Mr. Sparkles mentioned how that was such a waste of fabric. Hmm, I think you’re on to something there, Mr. Sparkles. Then this morning, I was reading about Rachel’s (at Stitched In Color) adventures with her scraps and triangles, and again thought, I shouldn’t let all those bits go to waste.
So I sewed a few of the corners into hourglass blocks and viola, no fabric waste! It’ll be a lot of itsy bitsy teeny weeny Vintage Modern polka dot bikini style sewing, but totally worth it. I’m not really interested in squaring up those already small blocks (they measure about 1.5″ unfinished) so will probably just do some fun improv with them and see what happens. I mean, yesterday they were bound for the bin, so today, it’s all just bonus!
Holy crap, they're tiny. Bet whatever comes from those mini bits of win will be super cute.

Wisdom from Mr Sparkles – and you get teeny cuteness.
When you sew these blocks Josh, next time add another line of stitching 1/2 inch closer to the corner than the first and then slice between the two and voila! you have your HST already to go. I have quite a few of these put aside and will make them into something one day! I saw this tip on the net somewhere (who knows where) and I thought – of course, why didn't I think of that! I LOVE the internet!
