Rainbow Bee Block – November Tutorial
I think I may have mentioned that I’m an official member of the greatest Quilting Bee on earth, but did I mention it is rainbow themed? Yes, I know yous be jealous, but I don’t mind if you live vicariously through me! So we are in month two (November), and the ever-fabulous Kristy wanted to make this block but didn’t have a tutorial for it. And gurl, questions, they did abound! So little Ms. Me attempted it tonight, taking pictures every step of the way, and this is what I came up with. Take note that when making my half square triangles I started with 3.5″ squares, but 3.25″ will get you where you need to be with plenty of wiggle room. (Rule of thumb, you can always cut off, you can’t add more!) I think the photos say it all, but if you need further clarity please leave a comment!
I love that darker red fabric! This is great – thanks for taking the time. It will help me immensely. I'm doing up a tutorial for my December block. I'd love to put measurements on my photos like you did in the first photo – how do I do it? Pic Monkey that I keep hearing about but haven't looked at yet?
Of course, Jeneta! It was actually quite good to document the experience, kept me focused! I use the Preview program on a Mac to do the annotations. I'm not too familiar with Pic Monkey but from what I've heard it is easy to use and does a lot! Thanks for dropping by!
Ooh, I love this block. The block composition is so nice with those colors!
