Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814
This was the first album I bought with my own money. I paid a whopping $5 for this CD at a garage sale. I was probably about 12. It makes me just as happy now as it did then. With seven singles released (four of them reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100!) it served as the album of the year for many, with lead single Miss You Muchbecoming the radio hit of 1989. If you were born in the nineties and this album passed you by, I highly suggest you get there now and relish in its pop glory!

Not to get all stalkerish, or what have you (as if a photographic voyeur could ever be such a thing!), but this photo somewhat surprised me. The way the colours and shapes balance the distorted perspective of the photo belies the fact that there’s someone standing in the window. It’s as if what may be there is as important as what is.
