Wedding of Sparkles

Are you sitting down with confetti in your pockets? Are your Kylie Minogue gold lamé hot-pants ready to catch fire? Are you ready for the best news in a long-ole, little-while? Because I am about to glitter bomb all over you with a spontaneous combustion of epic proportions!

But first, let me give y’all a big, giant thank you for the many well wishes we have received in the past few months regarding the Wedding of Sparkles. Despite it being an ongoing dilemma for us on how to proceed, we finally figured it out!

We’re getting married next week, on Saturday, 26 September, 2020. 

Originally, after the first postponement due to COVID19, we were making plans to hold our Wedding of Sparkles exactly one year later, on 27 March, 2021. However, six months into the global pandemic, we can see that many of the restrictions surrounding travel and congregations of large groups of people may not be resolved by next March. This would severely impact the type of event we want to have and share with all of our global guests.

Additionally, as I mentioned here on the blog a few weeks ago, Mr. Sparkles has been diagnosed with cancer. While his medical team believe that they have caught it in time, his surgery is scheduled for three days after the wedding on Tuesday, 29 September. There’s still a lot of the unknown surrounding his post-surgery recovery and care. The wedding planning has given us a positive point of focus, rather than the trepidation of the surgery.

In the end we decided, after fifteen and a half years, we could wait no longer! So I called our wedding planner and said, “Surprise, we want to get married in three weeks, what can you do?” In a mad rush, we have cancelled all original plans, and have decided to get married in the backyard of Adam’s childhood home. His parents have graciously invited us into their house to set the scene on a much smaller scale. Be prepared to see this backyard transformed into something a little bit extra. We couldn’t be happier! Are you ready to scream “Sparklelations!”

Due to current COVID19 restrictions there are limits to the number of guests we can have. However, we will be live streaming the ceremony portion of the Wedding of Sparkles for you all to see. There will also be a photographer to capture all of the official and silly moments throughout the night, which I will share with all of you post-event! You ain’t gotta miss a thing!

Once the world decides to put itself back together a bit, we have decided to have an international gathering to celebrate all of us. Perhaps a one year anniversary party?! So here we are, riding the wave that is 2020. When life gives you lemons, open a bottle of champagne and take a swig!
