I’m one of the people who didn’t tried them before, but the hint with the HST sounds really good. I think, I will buy one. I have ‘That Purple Thing’. That’s cool, too, but you cannot mark very well with it.
I just tried the invisible zipper in a swaddle snail for our little sun. Woth the right food it’s not to difficulty.
    Greetings from Germany, Rike

I’m looking forward to your review. Unfortunately my ‘can’t live without’ notion is my Clover seam ripper!

    • Kathy C. says:

Seam rippers – I agree! I love the smaller version of the Seam Fix. While the big one is ok, the cap doesn’t fit on the back of the ripper.

  3. Pam Arbour says:

Ha, I have had one of those for years and I used it to finger-press collars and facings, etc. It never occurred to me to use it as a pressing tool. Thanks for the tip! Now I’d better go find that thing!

  4. I love Heras in theory but have never had success using them for quilting. But I’m with Rike — marking HSTs may be the perfect use for them!

My favorite notion is Clover’s Chaco liner. I’ve had problems with the yellow liner not washing out of fabric, but the white one is great and has never given me trouble.

The only hera marker I’ve seen is the one on the left in the photo. I’m using it now to mark quilting lines to follow with the walking foot. I’ve never tried it for sewing lines. I like the 1/4″ rulers.

  6. Debbie says:

I’m an ardent hera marker fan and use it to mark most of my quilting, as well as HSTs. Another thing I use alot are my sewing tweezers: https://www.amazon.com/item4ever-TWE6-Sewing-Machine-Tweezers/dp/B0012DNMXG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482075588&sr=8-1&keywords=sewing+tweezers
With my Juki, the bobbin thread is short when I pull it up, and these tweezers are perfect for reaching under the foot to grab it.

  7. Chris K. says:

One of my favorite things is these snips: https://www.amazon.com/Havels-Snip-Eze-4-Inch-Embroidery-Snips/dp/B002760C9Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482085755&sr=8-1&keywords=havel+snip+eze
Because of the curved blades, you can cut threads very close to the fabric without worrying about cutting the fabric. They’re very handy.

I also like the Martelli ergonomic rotary cutter: https://smile.amazon.com/Martelli-Ergo-Rotary-Cutter-Right/dp/B0001DUJLQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482086311&sr=8-1&keywords=martelli+rotary+cutter
    There’s a left-handed version, too.

“Sewing supply collector” describes it perfectly.

  8. Barbie says:

My favorite notions are my Bloc-Loc rulers. They’ve ruined me and I can’t make half square triangles without them! 😉

  9. I just recently got a Hera marker and have been loving it so far. I’ll be glad to hear your reviews when you’ve had a chance to use these!

Sorry I’m so late joining this thread…but I was just thinking about my favorite marking tool the Clover Thin Line Chaco Liner…it comes in a variety of colors…I tend to mark in blue. I’ve tried pencils, pens and other chalks…this really works great if you need to mark:
