I have done two quilts in Hobbs heirloom wool – the first one is fabulous and I don’t regret it. The second one was done last summer and ever since it was made, the wool fibers have been migrating out of the quilt. Not just at the seams, but they are literally coming through the fabric. I have little wool pill balls all over it and when I wash it, there’s a ridiculous amount of wool in the lint trap. I realize that I might have gotten a bad batt or something, but I’m heartbroken about my quilt and I won’t take that chance again with Hobbs wool.

I have one quilt done with wool batt but I haven’t gotten the binding on it yet so it’s not washed. It feels fabulous even without all the crinkly goodness. I have been adding less and less to my stash these days, a good thing trust me but I couldn’t resist a stack of the new Coton and Steel basics. They are such luscious colors. And I totally don’t get the stories thing with Instagram.

I have hand quilted a few quilts with wool. Both have been washed a few times. The wool needles like its butter. The drape and feel is luscious. And its warm and cuddly.

Lucky you going to Singapore. I used to live there and miss the place so much. Go to see Ira at Quilts n Calicoes upstairs in Tanglin Mall (top end of Orchard Rd) – she’s so cool and knows so much about quilting. Great shop and staff

There’s some good fabric shopping opportunities in Singapore. Last time I was passing through, I was only able to duck in to Malin Textiles, but found these two websites identifying future stops: http://www.japanesesewingbooks.com/2012/09/26/fabric-and-book-shopping-in-singapore-and-other-cute-japanese-stuff/. And: http://craftschmaft.com/2015/02/20/fabric-craft-shopping-in-singapore/

  8. Great list. #7 is a great one. I used Hobb’s batting and have no issues with it.
