Sunday Stash #135 – When Doves Cry
I think we’ve had this discussion before. I’m usually an Aurifil White 2024 type of gal. Simple and classic. However, Kim from My Go-Go Life and Aurifil Social Media Content Coordinator recently told me I needed to try a little update to my wardrobe. Not many can get away with a comment like that, but I took it on board and asked her what she had in mind. “Listen to me darling, we all love white. I get it, I really do. But what you need right now, more than anything, is some Dove 2600. It’s like white with an edge, and we all know you got some of that! Don’t let your thread drag you down!” That Kim really knows how to make you feel special!
So on Friday I got this fabulous sampling of the new white, Dove 2600 in the mail. I can’t even wait to use all those different weights! That wooden spool one — how rustic! Kim was right, maybe it was time for a little thread spruce me up. To make sure I always stay in the know, I also got one of those fancy Aurifil thread charts. I might be loving it more than the thread because of all the potential. I know variegated thread can be a bit passé, but I lurve them. Seriously, that side of the chart keeps calling my name like a Dunkin Donuts buffet!
Just to let you know, I’ll be away for work all this week in California, so there won’t be much activity on the blog. However, make sure you catch my free design workshop, T-Shirt Quilts: Off the Grid at Intrepid Thread on Friday! I’m sure I might (haha) pick up a few things for Sunday Stash as well!
One more thing, the winner of this week’s Fabric Floozy Giveaway: Jane at lilpipdesigns. Stay tuned for more up and coming Fabric Floozy Giveaways!
I added some grey to my wardrobe this week too – snap!
I'm a 2024 girl too (although occasionally I cheat on 2024 with 2021. Not sure I can "ménage a quatre" with 2600 but I'll bear it in mind!
I'm so glad to hear you are finally in the know! Dove is the panacea of threads, for sure! It goes with everything, and somehow finds a way to convince me to quilt with its peaceful self more often than not, and ALWAYS looks fabulous (how is that even possible!?). My Aurifil color card is my favorite accessory, hands down. Enjoy the Aurilove!
Tread is a big turn on for me! I have my three go to colors for piecing. White, grey and beige! If only I had a wall full of every aurifil color *sigh* Have a great time with your workshop!
I've been using a soft grey for a while now, but it doesn't have the same allure as Aurifil Dove. I'd hate to be put in a match of who wore it better with you though. I could be on the embarrassing side of matching outfits at a party. 🙂 Thanks for sharing this party.
I have fantasies of a wall with a spool of every color Aurifil thread and Kona solid. But in the mean time the color cards have to help me stay within budge. I'm using the 3817 variegated thread right now – love it!
Yes! I use Dove 2600 like crazy! In fact, I quilted another quilt with it today. 🙂
I LUUUURV me some variegated thread!!
I just checked the no. on my fav thread for piecing and guess what! It's 2600! Jeez I'm good without even knowin it. lol
Have fun in California 🙂
I've used Aurifil Dove Grey on lots of quilting projects using my Juki. I swear by it for the perfect thread to blend in with everything! Wish I could be in CA to take your class. I was just 'gifted' a box full of concert T shirts to make a t shirt quilt. The quilt you made for your brother is so inspiring. Would love to take your class to get inspired for the one I have to make. Have fun in CA!
I am so happy you are seeing the #aurilight with #2600 ;o) It, like you, is the BOMB!!!!! Happy sewing!!!
Uhh,,, I didn't get the variegated thread memo. Can we call it retro rather than passe?? I LOVE variegate too.
Love that Aurifil thread!!!
Lol!! I only use 2600 🙂 But I didn't know you could get a kit of all of the weights!!! What new bliss is that?!
and you know I love me an Aurifil thread card! So luscious! So many possibilities! Just like the Dunkin Donuts buffet! ;0
XX!
