    What a progressive idea!

  4. Fran says:

Really fabulous work! Will be fun trying to quilt them accurately back to back… I'm sure you have a plan!

  5. Lee Ann L. says:

I'm in love with that!: 🙂

  6. God that's a beautiful, bright and happy quilt block and I just love it! You are one talented human being Mollie and I'm so happy to be receiving your newsletters. Your choice of colors is awesome and hopefully I'll try to replicate it, as best I can, if you don't mind. I don't have the selection of fabrics you do, but I'll give it a go, especially the front. Thanks so much for sharing.

  7. If you don't mind sharing, could you please tell me what fabric collection the circular pat'tterned fabric is from. I'll understand if you don't.

  8. Gorgeous! Though I do think you're a little unhinged for making a reversible quilt. So much work. How will anyone decide what side to use? 🙂 I think I'd go for the colour side these days, but there might be some grey days in winter when I'd be forced to reconsider! You made me panic when I saw your post – I thought I missed WIP Wednesday. Silly international date line!

You're making me fall a little in love with oval elements. On their own they don't draw my attention but man do you do gorheous work with them.

  10. Belinda says:

Love it! Reversible quilts are the best!

  11. Jessica says:

Molli. This is stunning! You are a genius! I love to make mine reversible, too 🙂

  12. SO. STINKIN'. GORGEOUS.

  13. Danielle F. says:

What an incredible idea! I absolutely love the juicy colors too! Such a brilliant idea to drain a quilt block of all color. Just beautiful!

  14. Farm Quilter says:

Beautiful blocks…definitely a cool "reflection" of one to the other! Any way you use these beauties, they will be spectacular!!

  15. Carmen says:

I love it!! I love the idea of onside being in color and the back the same pattern in grey scale!!

  16. Frau Hiltrud says:

Molli, those are two really great blocks. First I thought I preferred the coloured one over the black and white one. But now I am not so sure anymore and I totally understand your thinking. To make a reversible quilt out of them is genius! And I can't wait till you get the quilt done. It will be another sparkling quilt, I am sure 😉 Also, I agree with you that the back of a quilt should be equally beautiful as the front but it never occurred to me to make a reversible one. I have to keep that in mind and try one of these days.

  17. Julie Beard says:

    Hi Molli,

One word says everything about your colour coordination "Spectactular"!!!!!!!!

  18. Wow it does look like a trick of the camera … very cool!

  19. Kymberly says:

Love those blocks. Especially the black and white one.

  20. Julia says:

Love, love, LOVE this. The fabrics and colors are amazing. And the design is amazing! Thanks for sharing!

  21. Suzanne says:

Love this. I have the colored quilt pinned and have been admiring it for a while. Love your concept of draining the color. That would make one awesome quilt.

  22. Katy Cameron says:

    Yup, back/front makes sense

  23. Liz says:

Now I really want to see your original idea. I have an amazing version of what you described in my head, kind of a progression of blocks with various levels of color and b&w. Really cool idea.

  24. Lynda says:

when I looked at these two blocks, I thought of me and my shadow. It would be cool to use the b&w blocks as a shadow to the color blocks (shadowing only two sides from whichever direction your "light" is coming from) – that would entail breaking up the b&w block or making more…..

  25. Carol Q says:

    OMG that's clever!

  26. Kirsten says:

Love all of the colour in the first quilt and the B&W is just stunning too!

  27. Sooli says:

Interesting. I like the idea of the colours slowly changing to black and white but each block is gorgeous in its own right. Decisions, decisions!

  28. Anne says:

These are beautiful! I love the way you paired the solids with the prints to add some texture as contrast instead of just using color as contrast. Very cool effect, and I'm definitely inspired. 🙂

  29. Pat says:

All I know is they are both stunning.

  30. Christine S says:

This is gorgeous, what a great use of colors!

  31. Allison Sews says:

I love this idea! Can't wait to see it finished.

  32. gorgeous! What a thought provoking idea. I love it. I feel like I need to try this sometime.

  33. Kara says:

I haven't ever had the desire to make a quilt devoid of color, but all of a sudden I'm itching to buy all the black and white and gray I can find. It's amazing!

  34. The colour is fun, the black and white is amazing, and together they are going to be awesome! Have you finished it, yet?
