Loving that Disney print, even it it's not cream. That's one serious sized quilt, I seriously admire your patience for all those little squares. Looking forward to the big reveal – forget about getting lots of quilt holders just go find yourself a nice open space, lay it flat then beg, borrow or steal (not that I'm advocating theft ofc) one of those ariel lift thingy and go have some fun!

  2. Jane says:

Yep, quilts have a mind of their own. They tell you of their desire to be hand quilted, or just that little bit bigger… You gotta go with the flow!

  3. *Cornelia* says:

omg you are totally crazy, but everyone loves crazy, and I really cant wait anymore till the big reveal
planning right now my first big quilt too, so Im a bit scared

  4. Kacey says:

Go big or go home! Nuthin' wrong with an extra large quilt – more room for wrapping up and making sure no cold air can get to your toes šŸ™‚

  5. The O's says:

can't wait to see it. And for Mr Sparkles reaction to coming home to a furnitureless house… eek!

  6. Laurelle says:

You are so funny! R u Crazy. I have committed to a queen size for my daughters boss and freaking out and I haven't even started it yet! Can't wait to see the big reveal of your massive quilt šŸ™‚

Haha! I totally know what you mean! I just finished a Mega King quilt of my own (108 x 116 – after quilting). It turned out gorgeous, but it was a BEAST to photograph! I'm still kicking myself that I never remembered to photograph it on my own mega king sized bed before giving it to my parents. However, I did get a peek of it on their bed and, well, it's plenty big. Plenty big.
I can't wait to see yours! Good luck finding 17 people!

Holy moley, that's a monster of a quilt! Glad its you and not me! I'm sure it will be spectacular but I don't envy the person who ends up quilting it. Looking forward to seeing the finished result.

  9. Renee says:

I can so relate–I've had one quilt turn into three. When I made a king size, I was lucky enough to have a raised deck and a clothsline, so I was able to hang it up and it just barely touched the ground. I do miss that set up. Hope you find those 17 people by the time you get it finished!

Okay, I'm seriously NEEDING that Disney print!!! Love!! And I understand the troubles with large quilts. I seem to have a hard time making small quilts….like, ever.

  11. Leo says:

Thinking about it – it probably would be less trouble to plan for a smaller quilt and just buy the friend a new bed …

  12. Good frickin' grief! Rein yourself in already! Who accidentally makes a king size? šŸ™‚ But seriously, making anything bigger than a queen (that doesn't even happen so often) scares the bejezus out of me, so who I am I to talk! Next for you – mini quilts. Though they don't use up much of the stash! šŸ™‚

Been there! But ya know, it'll be worth it. totally.

  14. LMAO! So funny! Congrats on a king size top! I"m sure it will be fabulous. I recommend taking that bad boy outside and clipping it to a fence or bleachers for photos. šŸ™‚

  15. Farm Quilter says:

And you are hand quilting this, right? Bwwaaahhhh! 130" square is my largest quilt to date and by the end I hated it! Your ginormous D is great!!

  16. Salley says:

Ya'all could hang it from The Bridge, whilst you snap from a mega yacht… might work…

  17. Am L says:

I did the math on the number of squares this took, and you are cray-cray, my friend! Seriously, I know little squares sew quickly, and I know how you approached it, but still!

It is gorgeous, I am sure. If you feel like sharing a few thousand miles with me, I'll come hold up the quilt. : ). I cannot wait for the big D reveal!

  18. CitricSugar says:

Hahahaha! Oh, Molli. I love you. I'm sure your friend will welcome every square inch. (Which possibly sounds more risque than intended….)

So how you gonna quilt this mother?

  19. I hear you! Something similar happened with my MIL's quilt šŸ™‚

  20. charlotte says:

Been there, done that. A quilt can carry you away. Can't wait for the reveal!!

  21. Vera says:

whoa! You better order non windy weather so those people won't fly away with it, lol.

  22. Hilary says:

Oh I can't wait to see it! I love the Disney print on the back!

  23. I love that blue.

Congratulations on getting it done! I know how enthusiasm can get a person into trouble. The first quilt I ever made was queen sized – I designed it myself. I had never made a mug rug, a place mat, a cot blanket or anything else. I didn't even have a great deal of sewing experience. I had no idea about quilting, but thought it looked easy enough. Two years later I finished it šŸ™‚

  24. Well, thanks a lot–just because of you I just spend $25.20 on a yard of that fabulous Mickey comic print fabric. It is fabulous. Thanks!…I think.
