Rise Up & Bring ‘Em Down

Oh no, no, no no no. Do not even mess with a quilter. We will cut you, and we have the tools ready at hand to do so. Megan over at The Bitchy Stitcher has brought to light a troll blog amongst us! The powers that be over at Quilt Patterns Pro (:::shady stare:::) are stealing blog content from quilty RSS feeds from all around the net and posting it on their own site. They’ve failed to link back to the original blogger’s post, instead implying it is original content from their own site. Oh, but they have managed to pepper Google ads around the posts, which is an obvious, quick grab for cash.

Exsqueeze me? None of my content has been plagiarised yet, but I see many bloggers I recognise, and many of you that have linked up to Sunday Stash with Molli Sparkles. Make sure to use their search box to see if you’re being blog-jacked! I’ve just left a post on this page of their website to notify them of what a dicky move they’ve made (you should do the same). You can also contact their domain provider, Go Daddy, if you’ve been directly affected. Okay, Glitterati, it’s time to join forces. Let’s do this!

I already saw it today on instagram, its so horrible and rude, they also reposted the new post from the bitchy stitcher, where she is complaining about there site, they didnt even read the content,

im not on their site yet, but my best friend is, already told her, they have to get stopped

  2. Oh yeah, they have me, now its my turn to go get them! thanks for the heads up

  3. Alison says:

    How terrible. What bitches.

  4. That is so crazy! Thanks for the heads up. I just emailed GoDaddy about the content that was stolen from my site.

  5. I wasn't victimized but some of my hive mates were! So glad to see us swarming to take down the vulture!

  6. Stephanie says:

Holy crap Molli – thanks so much for bringing this to light! I'm pretty smalk potatos so figured thst a search for my blog would turn up zero. NOPE!! They stole six or seven of my most recent posts. I was shocked!!

  7. Kristy says:

Don't people know that if there is one thing you never do…it is to disrupt the quilting community. We are a close-"stitch" group and look out for one another. While it looks like I'm safe for now, that doesn't mean that I won't be spreading the news. Some of my quilting buddies weren't so lucky and what's even worse is that one friend's kids are now showing up on the site. Thanks for the heads up!!

  8. Pat says:

Wow! That's pretty evil. I'm not a blogger but I certainly understand the rules and the etiquette.

  9. Rude I tell you! I'm going to throw my stiletto at them (just my K-mart ones … I don't want to waste my DGs on them)

  10. Thanks so much for letting me know my content had been stolen as well. I've filed a complaint with godaddy and have a blog post about it going up on my site tomorrow to alert all of my readers as well. Hopefully as all of us make a big stink about it, we can take care of this problem!

  11. OMG they totally have stolen LOADS!!! me included 🙁 I will do all the complaining I can! Thanks hun!

  12. RobotMomSews says:

Bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have a whole bunch of mine too!! 🙁 Love how you cannot comment on the posts.. If you are searching for yours, do a search, don't go through the archives. They are hidden. Thanks Molli!

  13. Boo! I'm on it too! If they would just link it back then I wouldn't care as much. Stinkers!

  14. They got me too Molli! What BS, this happened to me before a couple years ago too, but that site actually took down the information quickly. We'll see how this one goes. Thanks for the heads up!

  15. Lindsey says:

Maybe I'm late to the game, but I just went to quiltpatternspro.com and they have a blurb on there saying it's QUILTINGpatternspro.com that's doing all the bad stuff… but then you type in that address and it doesn't exist. I'm very confused. I'd love to write harassing letters to make them stop, but who do I address it to?

    • Lindsey says:

Oh my gosh, I just figured it out: they're just automatically stealing all the posts from specific blogs, and they actually COPIED the post from Little Bunny Quilts talking about how they're stealing!! So they put up the info on their own site about how they're copying everything!! Hahaha! People are so stupid sometimes!!

    • Amy says:

It made me laugh too. That has been the only thing to laugh about. They have been stealing from me too, so I did a blog post in hopes that they would put it on their blog and warn all of my quilty friends.

  16. Mina says:

Wow, I am such a small blog but they got some of mine too. Would never have thought that. Thanks for the heads up.

  17. Kenna says:

Thanks for the heads up…..they got me too (And my kitchen remodel post….so strange) anyway, I've fired of an email to GODaddy….so let's hope they are so inundated that they shut them down!

  18. They got me too. One other place to complain too would be WordPress since that is the blogging platform the site is using.

  19. charlotte says:

Quilters Unite! This is so wrong. It looks like when the blog was started it may have been legit, but since early 2012 all the posts are stolen. Saw some Quilt Dad posts on there too.

  20. Jehnny says:

I've heard Feedspot will do the same thing and even put ads on your posts. So your posts may be advertising things you don't endorse and they're making money off your posts! One way to stop it is to turn off you RSS feed, but then you lose followers. If this site is doing it, guaranteed others are too. What a shame! (supply your own expletive here)! Hopefully, their domain provider will shut them down!

  21. Katy Cameron says:

The funniest post today was the one criticising them!

  22. Kim says:

I went to WordPress' FB page and put in a complaint. We need to flood their FB page to get their attention. WordPress is the hosting platform so they can take the offending site down. My blog posts are all over that site.

  23. Paula says:

It's sad that there are people out there who will jsut steal what they can and use it to try and make a fast buck and you can be guaranteed this isn't the only site that is doing it. The site now sees to be down – for good one hopes – but I suspect that it will only be a matter of time before it reappears under a new name and guise. At the end of the day vigilance is key. It is very difficult to ever stop the sort of people who run such sites, but it is possible to make things as difficult as possible for them.

  24. Karin says:

Yes, I am also on there…and not just one post, but several. Actually feels like my whole blog is on there. I was alerted by a kind reader via email. Also wrote letter of complaint to Godaddy and also notified Google. Will also be posting about it tonight.

  25. Looks like they took the offending blogger down. Good riddance #aintnobodygotimeforthat

  26. The site has gone and now there's an email address to contact the 'server administrator' on! Would like to spam the heck of it but I will let sleeping dogs and triumphant quilters lie 🙂

  27. Kristin says:

Molli Sparkles to the rescue! I'm pretty sure that they stopped because they were afraid of your "gurrl, I will cutt you" threat! I picture a superhero version of Molli Sparkles that bears a strong resemblance to Wonder Woman. http://cdn.hitfix.com/photos/4729522/1970s–Lynda-Carter.jpg

Your french cut bustier outfit would be hot pink and sequined. The metal wristbands would be magnetized to hold pins. The lanyard on the waist would be binding waiting to be sewn on. You would be holding a rotary cutter… I'm sure there are more details I'm overlooking!

    =)

  28. Whoo hoo – score one for the good guys (and gals)!!

  29. Farm Quilter says:

United quilters make a formidable foe!!! Job well done in getting them shut down, but be wary and on the lookout for future scum.

  30. One Wee Bird says:

Looks like you sparkled the shizzle outta that site it seems to have vanished…so I don't know if I was copied or not….but you go girl…I think your Superpower is quilting Morality for the masses 😉
    Love your ethic always x
