Now see that's why you have a big stash so you can find just the right fabric for binding a quilt without leaving home! Stash justification!

  2. Vera says:

Being a Bohemian girl this is definitely my kind of quilt 🙂 Great pics as well!

  3. Simply gorgeous. I think the large blocks, white background, and lack of sashing or border do make it modern.

  4. I love it when you go rogue! Just sparklicious.

  5. Jessamie says:

I love this and agree with Lisa it definitely has a modern vibe!

  6. saphre1964 says:

I love this sparkle, just love!

  7. DeborahGun says:

Bohemian suits you! Great quilt and fun to see some batik being used.

  8. Pat says:

Great quilt. I'd call it modern.

  9. Ooh, great quilt! Great job!

  10. Izzy says:

I love this! I'm a huge fan of purple! 🙂

  11. It's really beautiful Molli! Love those pops of gold in some of the fabrics.

  12. I LOVE IT! But really, what's not to love about radiant orchid? 😉 Well done!

  13. Great quilt! Although, if I may be so bold… I think you should have continued with the chrysanthemum FMQ. I'm sure it would have looked great as a whole. You are just too critical of yourself. We are all our own worst enemies.

You make me want to work with batiks!

  15. I've shied away from batiks… mainly because that is the only thing my LQS stocks. Well, not really… but mostly. Calicos and batiks. But that binding fabric really makes me want to "give batiks a chance". Fantastic quilt… of course!

This Rocks…oh, wait, can Bohemian's rock? Saunter, Haunt, Spin Sorcery…Regardless of the adjective or verb, your quilt is lovely and I bet Stevie Nicks would be happy to be associated with it. If this is you rocking your traditional vibe, I can't wait to see more.

  17. audrey says:

YUM! And you know I love all of those delicious batiks! 🙂

  18. Auntie Pami says:

Very nice! One of my favorite colors!

  19. Anna says:

This was totally worth the wait and anticipation. I love it! And you're right, it is different from your usual quilts, but that's what makes quilting so fun. The ability to step out of your comfort zone and still create something beautiful.

  20. Jehnny says:

Love it and the batiks- I've always had a secret soft spot for batiks!

  21. charlotte says:

I agree with everyone here. Break out the head scarves!!

  22. It seems somewhat iridescent in the photos, it looks great!

  23. Lovely, again! But I have to say the batiks are great! Particularly the batik in the binding! Sometimes I feel guilty walking around the batik section (is anyone looking??) but there are so many gorgeous color combinations and patterns…just not right to ignore. Thanks for the moral support of batiks!!

  24. Holy magical sparkle dust Molli – you made batiks hawt! I LOVE this quilt – it looks great, I like how you used it to explore traditional piecing, and you made batiks (which, to be honest, I often think look more like the contents of someone's stomach than a fabric I'd like to use in a quilt) look absolutely fan-freakin-tastic. Way to work the radiant orchid girl!

  30. Salley says:

Orchids?…. Batiks?… hot and steamy Tropics, ah'd say.

  31. The O's says:

Gorgeous, love. But that isn't unusual when it comes to my admiration of your work really is it?

  32. Casey York says:

Ha! You just described my high school self, head scarf, incense and all (and I never even knew I was bohemian)! Seriously, though, your quilt is spectacular–well done!!

  33. Paula says:

Seriously yummy. I'm just loving everything about this one.

  34. Janine says:

    This is beautiful!

  35. Love! I'm doing a big scrappy purple quilt soon, but I just couldn't pull it out in time for the challenge. I hope to have as much success as you did getting a lot of random prints to all look so lovely together. This is just gorgeous!

  36. Anne says:

I'm glad you decided to participate! 😀 Also, you know how much I love that you design in pink pen, right? Good. ^_^
Gorgeous work, and I love the batik bombing!
