WiP Wednesday #17 – Rainbow Herringbone
Now that the florals have left the building, I have been able to resume my normal rainbow programming. This past week I finished the first rainbow broken herringbone quilt top from the blocks provided by Rainbow Bee #1. Version two is still coming up next, so hold your unicorns. (Lest we forget all the blocks I’m making for version three, that will be for moi!) What is it with women at work all having babies at the same time? I hope it’s not catching, because these hips cannot afford another child!
This baby blue herringbone was my block contribution. I felt like it almost got the iciness I wanted, except for that Art Gallery print above the AMH leopard–it reads a tad teal. I know the recipient won’t mind…
…but when it comes to making the same version for myself, I’m gonna switch it up with this newly acquired Michael Miller disco dot.
Oh, and not only did I finish the quilt top, I finished quilting the sucker as well! Bam! I did outline quilting around each herringbone bar with white Aurifil 40wt. I tried to weenie out and pick an easier quilting method, but some wise people on Instagram told me to, “Suck it up princess and get your sew on!” Glad I listened to them.
oh i love your rainbow broken herringbones, tried my first herringbone too last week,

Fab-u-lous. The white sashing really makes those colours sing. It looks so different to when you posted the layout ideas. Loving it loads.
Is that disco dot fabric actually glossy? or is that just the lightening?
Did you decide on machne sewing the binding or doing it traditional?
