What-the-sushi??? You get all the luck!
It is unbelievable: fabric and a sushi-promis in one day!
Now, don't eat it all in one go, you hear?

I must admit I was a bit surprised to see that panel fabric when I started reading your post, but scrolling down and the gorgeousness appeared. Great selection of fabrics.
Confession time: I must admit that while I don't generally order it, I will quite happily polish off the eel sushi that everyone else ignores – I blame it on the years I spent working with eels in the past.

Yes, I was also surprised by the first bit of fabric, but the second picture makes it all come together. Yum!

  4. Sooli says:

Love that gorgeous orangey-red, I love other people bearing gifts of fabric (not that it happens very often)!

  5. Vera says:

I was recently browsing through one block wonder book and there is one awesome quilt made out of japanese motiv fabric. So you can alway cut those up and get extraordinary result.

  6. You are really funny.

  7. Wow, love the orange and the gold! And totally with you on the sushi, although at our place it's the kids who demolish it before the parents get a look in ;o)

  8. Leigh Anne says:

Those solids are golden! You can all of my sushi portion 🙂

  9. Yay for more fabric. You seriously are a fabric magnet! 😉

Ooh and those sketchy prints will be very versatile. Btw I happen to know of a paper pieced sushi block… you know… in case you're so inclined to start paper piecing, you just let me know. 😉

  10. Wish someone would show up at my door offering bags of fabric. Asian motifs aren't usually my thing either (this happens a lot when you show your fabric; I think we are long lost fabric BFFs) but maybe you could find a quilt where this would work for the back?

  11. Nony says:

Oh, those co-ordinates are lovely. I actually enjoy when I find a line where I enjoy a co-ordinate more than the feature, feature prints can be very over-rated. And if you want to throw in some of the main print, throw in a bit of fussy cutting and some little paper-pieced kimonos and you won't even be too overwhelmed by the print! Also now there is somebody out there who doesn't have massive, gilded, Japanese print throw cushions, which you could say has worked out for the best.

  12. Gina says:

Maybe Alyce would like the Asian motif?? The other prints look great together and I definitely see cushions in that fabric stack.

  13. Books_Bound says:

Oooo, I love the bottom three. Also, sushi, and now I really want it, so thanks for that. 😛 Sadly, I recently moved back to Nebraska, and I'm not brave enough to try it in such a landlocked state. 😉

Gotta love rich, saturated colors! I completely agree about the eel. It's sweet and has a strange texture. When we order a sushi combo we always ask for no eel. BTW, next time you are in the Bay Area of CA, I can recommend a fantastic sushi restaurant in Los Gatos called Sushi on the Run. : )

If I ever open an opium den, I am commissioning you, Dame Molli, to design the interior!

  16. No eel for me either. Their life cycle is too hard fought for to kill them.

Sometimes leftovers aren't so stinky then!

[…] Gabrielle. It was near the beginning of my quilting journey–we’re talking July 2013 for Sunday Stash #32–whereby she found these random bits and donated them to me. I would never buy fabrics like […]
