WiP Wednesday #15 – Bee Blockin’ Fever
It has been a bee blockin’ fever up in here, y’all! I have finally emerged from a tornado of rainbows, threads and glitter to present you with some of my favourite blocks to date! I’m not entirely sure whose month is where, when or how anymore, and I pray to the Heavenly Goddess Mariah Carey that they all arrive to their rightful owners. :::I’m lookin’ at you Australia Post.::: Snap.
Have you ever seen so many squares and HSTs in one place? I go cross-eyed just looking at it.
The blesséd Oh Fransson Mod Mosaic block. A request was made to leave our souls in the block, and I think I pretty much did all that with a side of chips. It’s hard to see in the photo, but most of the fabrics on the edges of the block are glittery, because when you’re with me, you’re always surrounded in sparkle! There’s an homage to my Vespa (Cindi — yes, with an “i,” of course), my batik love, my sewing hobby, and even a few Little Apples, you know, ’cause I do my actual work there. I’ve included the first designer fabric I bought (Madrona Road shout out!), my first cut (is the deepest) into my Nancy Drew FQ bundle, and well, I get lost a lot, so directions are needed. Who could imagine a life without blue leopard print, purple bubbles, and yellow stars? I absolutely adore, adore, très adore Color Me Retro, and a little bit of inspiration goes a long way for all of us. Yes, me in a block.
These are for a young person’s first quilt, and he’s super excited by the prospect of being tangled up in blue. (Potential quilt title?!)
Three inch baby wonky stars. I wanted to make more but my acrylic press-ons just kept getting in the way.
Ninja Mishi Kichi and her ridonculous jeweled quilt block x3. Mr. Sparkles wanted to keep this one!
This was another one of those put your soul on a plate with fabric, and they are my absolute favorite thing to do! It’s like I’m in art school all over again and I can boss the Freshmen around, and then go to Frat Parties. You know Molli was popular at the Fra-tern-i-ties. Gliter, sparkles, and Vespa psychadelica–need I say more?
These are all WiPs for other people, so I’m allowed to link up at Freshly Pieced, right? If not, you can deal with it. Now, pass the vodka.
Your second block – the mosaic – love it!
Man you've been busy!
How do you keep up your bee drive?! I'm flagging at this time, although a month of sickness in the house, half of that mine, is bound to do that to me…
Oh Molli, just oh……
oh hahaha, those acrylic press ons are a serious hindrance when sewing three inch wonky stars! Know exactly how you feel. 🙂 If I want to keep quilting I have to ditch the acrylics and cut my nails every fortnight! 🙂 Wonky stars are seriously my FAVES! x
I'm going wooow and wooo. What and awesome blocks you made!
So. Much. Awesome! Every block I though, yeah that's my favourite – but they just kept coming!
Oh and ps, tangled up in blue is one of my all time favorite songs. Fab quilt name.
Love love the mosaic block. I'm going to have to try that.
I love the first block and was convinced it was my favorite, until I saw that last block! I'm so sad you have to send that one away–it's gorgeous! This is an impressive amount of work too–I am certainly a lazy quilter!
<3 <3 <3 allll of this!
Gosh, you have been a busy bee. I love the Oh Fransson Mod Mosaic block, definitely one I'll have to try. The jeweled quilt blocks are stunning, but the final rainbow star… now that is a work of art. A-maz-ing! Did I mention that I love it.
gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! I can totally see your soul in those blocks!
*Squeeee* you got Winnie The Pooh in that first block! Sorry, I didn't really see anything else after that…
You'll have to make Mr Sparkles one of his very own because that lot have my name all over 'em! I love how they look together, def gets me excited (starting to think I myt pee myself when I put all 30 something together!!)…..do a little dance, make a big quilt 🙂
Lookin' at ur fab blocks I think were in all the same bee's!
Wonderful collection of blocks 🙂
Who's been a busy bee then? Some great blocks there, you'd never get bored that's for sure! I've had a crack at that first block too (not because I'm in a bee, just because I like the looks of it and I can't believe how long it takes to put together. I spent most of yesterday putting two blocks together (with a few interruptions) and I already had all the HST's done and trimmed. I already have the pieces cut up ready to go for one more and then I'm just going to put them away and forget them for a bit. By the time I drag them out again hopefully I will have forgotten how long they take! Loving all your blocks!
Those tiny stars! Eeep, so cute! Love that rainbow star!
Wow you have been busy! I'm not sure I can even pick a favourite so I'm going to go with… I love them all! Fabulous work!
a shot of Zytnia heading your way! Wow, love love love and in AWE of how freaking talented you are. And yes, I spotted pooh and piglet and paused, for a long while on your first block. Love. xxx
Whoa – that's a lot of bees you're in! They are all gorgeous but I love that top block – it's shades and tones – and your improv-y rainbow… And teeny tininess of all kinds makes me giddy!
I love that first block the best… But the last one is a close second! Those bright colours are awesome.
