**Due to some technical difficulties yesterday (definitely not #mollisparklesapproved), I’m reblogging the following post. If you’ve received bounce back emails in the last twenty-four hours, my apologies, but all should be right with the world now! Thanks for sticking with me through my time of crisis!**
Have you ever been putting on your blue eye shadow, creating the perfect smoky eye, only to realise it’s more of an indigo tone than an ultramarine and it totally clashes with your new denim skinnies, and then you’re like WTF, this night is a total disaster before it’s even begun? I. KNOW. Tell me about it! You know what would have helped in that situation? Some colour theory. Mmm. Hmm.
So to prevent you from having a colour theory emergency on your face (Madonna, you know I love your crazy ass, but…), you might want to check out a new series I’m part of called Colour Theory for Quilters, organised by Jess at The Elven Garden
While I won’t share any makeup tips this time around, I’m sure you’ll pick up some colour rules of the trade that you can apply to your next quilt project, and your next trip to the MAC cosmetics counter.
The schedule for the theory posts is:
1. Using the Colour Wheel and Understanding Colour Terminology – Monday 10th June
2. Colour Harmony – Monday 17th June
3. Colour Context – Monday 24th June
4. Value, including low volume – Monday 1st July
After we get done gas-bagging, Jess has asked a few prominent quilters (who use colour exceptionally well) to give an insight into how they find colour inspiration for their quilts, how they choose fabric, and a bit about their process when designing. These will run in the week starting Monday 8th July. More about those as the dates draw near!
Not only that, but…
The other big news on the horizon, is that it’s time to get fully acquainted with moi! You and me, we need to make it official, and the only way that’s gonna happen is if you stop by next week on my leg of The 2013 Let’s Get Acquainted New Blogger Blog Hop. Beth over at Plum and June has done an amazing job organising a whole gaggle of us new bloggers, and it’s starting to get hot and heavy this week. If you’re lookin’ for a new friend, look no further, because I’m sure they’re somewhere down below.
